I''ll try though I don't know what else they can do besides change my APN settings. I have no idea what other settings I can configure that I haven't touched

They dial some type configuration numbers on the phone if i remember correctly

Wireless companies have been planning on shutting down 2G and 3G networks for a while now, because they're old, slow, and inefficient. They can repurpose those bands for faster networks (4G & 5G). VoLTE is the way to have voice calls over LTE while also having access to the internet (otherwise, it's only one or the other, not both at the same time).

That variant should cover T-Mobile's main bands, so that doesn't seem to be the issue. I'm thinking more and more that it has to do with the lack of VoLTE support.

It might be worth calling T-Mobile's support rather than Metro's to see if one of the agents there can shed light on the whole VoLTE thing in relation to the upcoming 3G sunset and the Sprint merger.

Is there a list of current phones that will be compartible with this new standard? might have to upgrade afterall

I'm here and the the customer rep just typed in APN settings. I asked her about dialing in something and she has no idea what that is. So they literally just did what I did hours ago and of course it still doesn't work. So at this point the national site and the local store can't help me

Thats strange , I will look into this , and get back to you probably by tomorrow

Question, is the note 8 factory unlocked model or carrier?

Thanks. They called the national line in the local store and they just did a signal reset with a new sim card and nothing changed. Same issue. I have no idea what to do now

I don't know if it was mentioned , you put in safe mode to see ?

@B. Diddy, do you know if the Note 9 is compartible with the new standards? I was gonna go for that phone next since it seems my time with this 8 is coming to an end. The Note 10 plus is still too expensive for me

Safe mode is diagnostic feature built in the phone .
To do this try , press power button when power off shoes up on the screen long press until safe mode shows then tap it , to exit out of it just restart the phone. It turns off any 3rd party apps might cause this

I wish I could use other phones. But I find the S Pen very useful tool to have. ANd also that amazing edge board/app sliders that let you quickly switch to a different app regardless of what screen you're on.

I'm actually fed up with Samsung but I don't know any other phones with similar features like the Note series. @B. Diddy

I just tried Safe Mode AKA "EMergency Mode" on Note 8 and I still have the same issue

Ok, what I've been told
If this a original Verizon or sprint phone your going have this issue.

Now with the APN don't use metro , use Tmobile APN

Already tried TMobile APN, I still get the same issue. The thing is the first time I bought this phone from somebody, I used metro APN and had no issues. The second time, I reset the phone I used TMo and no issues. Third time was when the phone had to be repaired...still had no issues with Metro APN. Now after a reset, neither TMo or Metro APN works for LTE.

There is no option for MMS protocol: and I am using IPV6 for APN protocal and IPV4 for roaming.

Also as of today I can no longer send MMS messages with pics and voice recordings via text anymore. This was working yesterday even with the no LTE stuff. Its like each day the situation gets worse. @mustang7757 @B. Diddy

It won't let me configure my APN like yours. In fact the moment I used the part stuff, it dissappears. The whole APN dissappears even though I save it

Strange , this will require a person physically look at it , might want take to Samsung experience store to run diagnostic or phone repair center
