AC Question

My screen is completely out on my old Galaxy SIII and I have several folders that are hidden on its internal storage using a '.' at the beginning of the folder's name. I made a bootable usb drive with ubuntu on it (I natively run Windows 8), but I knew that only ubuntu or the like would let me find folders that are hidden this way.
However, despite booting up ubuntu, and connecting the phone to the computer, I cannot find the folders. Any help?
I'm not able to see anything on the GS3 screen, btw.

Is your phone on at the time you are trying to do this? And did you have a PIN or other password setup?

Sent from my Galaxy S4 running SOKP 4.4.2

Just realized that I wasn't logged in when I posted that; the phone is on, and there is no password/pin/security on the screen. The capacitive touch doesn't work, either, so it's no big deal. I can find all the regular files and folders, but any folder starting with '.' (for ex: .abc) can't be found, and that's with having selected to see hidden files.
