I really need some help figuring this out. Here's the problem.

I have tried everything to get Jelly Bean on my Nexus and all I get is the boot loop screen. I have flashed different ROMs multiple times, waited for hours with my phone in a boot loop, pushed buttons, and done battery pulls. I've even spent a whole day going completely back to stock, including having to re root, figuring this would solve the problem, and still all I get is the boot screen.
Every ICS Rom I try boots up in 1-2 minutes with no problems.

I wipe properly every time, system, davlic, cache. I can't figure this out. Am I the only person on the planet this is happening to? Normally this wouldn't be a big deal but no one is really supporting there ICS roms anymore. Just about everyone has gone to JB.

Please HELP me!

Need details on what roms you were trying to flash and what you define as a bootloop.

I also noticed you did not mention a data wipe/factory reset. This MUST be done. If this is done, and if all of the wipes are done, you will have absolutely no issue.

I'll be sitting in here waiting :).

Also, make sure whichever Rom you are flashing includes a kernel, or flash one in the same recovery session. Do this by opening the zip file (if you are using a browser on your phone, click extract and go to the folder it tells you it was extracted to) and look for a file called boot.img

Haven't seen one that doesn't, at least in toro land (thank god).

Is it possible he's using the ICS boot loader and he's just not waiting long enough on the boot screen? If so maybe he should try the jb boot loader.

Even without the JB bootloader it should start. How do you re-root? I have heard of people locking their phones and unlocking again. Is that it? I am thinking too that a complete wipe is not being done. That way, the ICS structure is still in place and allows him to continuously flash ICS ROMs, but not JB ROMs. Maybe make a video of yourself doing the flashing process and post it?

It is also possible that he is not waiting long enough for it too boot. Remember when the first jb ROMs were out...it could take up to 10 minutes sometimes. Although this was never the case for me luckily.

Agreed. Also, there is no boot loop screen. If it's stuck in a boot loop, you will usually see the Google logo for a while, then the phone will restart, then the Google screen again over and over. The phone can also get stuck on the boot animation screen. These are 2 different issues.
Sometimes just changing the kernel can fix this.

Sorry I was away and not able to answer.

As a last resort I used Wugs tool kit to reflash the stock rom and un root my device, it automaticaly does this. I then re rooted it using the tool kit.

To be clear on wiping I followed all of the steps here, in post 3 I believe, Which included factory data reset, davlik wipe, cache wipe, I even wiped the battery stats along with my own butt.

The boot screen I am talking about is the animation screen with the google X. It never moves past this screen. NOT the screen which says GOOGLE with the picture of the unlocked lock I go past that. So I guess its not technically a boot loop cause my phone doesn't boot back up it stays on the animation screen. I have left my phone for as long as 4 hours and it never moves past the boot animation. Normally I wait for 30 min to an hour before I pull the battery and restore and try again.

I have tried Jelly belly, Codename, AOKP, Bugless, and a couple others I can't remember.

Thanks for all your help.

And just so we're clear, you have a Verizon GNex and you're using proper VZW builds--aka toro?

If you'd like, we can take you through the process. However, to say I'm not flummoxed would be an absolute understatement.

You and me both! Like I said I think I'm the only one on the planet with this problem.
Yes I have a verizon gnex.
Kind of out of options now.
Is there a difference between the ics boot loader and JB one? Do you think flashing a different kernel will help?

OP, are you still there? Many people have offered up suggestions or need more information from you in order to help you out. When you start a thread asking for help, you need to check back once in a while and respond. :D

Update - No sooner do I put out the bat signal, he's back.

Update #2 - my bad. Maybe if I refreshed to the last post... :p

DM is one of the best trouble shooters here in AC. He has helped me from the beginning and still gives me advice. I believe if your in a loop its a ROM issue not a kernel issue as you can flash a kernel without being in recovery. Is your gnx new or have you had it for sometime? If you used wugs to get back to stock and rerooted I would give it a shot again but don't sorry about using the jb bootloader until you get jb working. I have only flashed 3 job ROMs Jakes, Euro skank and aokp. I am no expert but just some thoughts. Best of luck.

Quick question when in recovery what app you using TWRP or CWM maybe something wrong with the app or your cleaning/wiping order. Just a thought.

I use CWM recovery to flash. I've never really used TWRP except for when the tool kit used it. I downloaded CWM right away after reverting to stock.

My gnex isn't one of the first batch I picked it up in in the beginning of january

I've been flashing roms since my Omnia, which I bricked once, and I have never had any problems like this.

Yes he is that's why I'm on AC looking for help. He has helped me with several issues in the past, as have many others on this site.

Thanks everyone for your help and brain storming.

The only thing I haven't done is go back to stock and fully lock the phone. I just went to stock + unrooted. but I don't know if locking really has anything do do with it. I just can't figure out why it won't go past that boot animation. I flash the same way with every rom, Wipe everything, And They always load up.

If you can't boot a thing--nandroid, new rom, etc--I'd suggest locking the device and then unlocking it, if only to clear out anything on your SDcard that's causing this.
