Ok I need some input...I have had my Nexus for 2 months as of today. In that time it has been basically flawless...maybe one or two random "self reboots". I love the phone. Today I was listening to a podcast on my Double Twist app and went to pause the playback when the stream started to skip like a CD....just froze. Tried unlocking the screen to stop the app and that didnt work. Held the power button hoping to shut it down, that didn't work. I then pulled the battery and waited a minute and went to power back up and it didnt get past the animation screen. It freezes and sometimes shows the Google screen and sometimes just shuts down and I pull out battery and it does it again. I was able to get into the recovery screen and attempt a hard reset but after I do it, it goes right back to same messed up stuff. I am assuming its a hardware issue but could be wrong. The phone is stock- I havent tied unlocking or messing with anything. I have apps installed but last time I installed anything was over a week ago and it has been running fine until today. I have never dropped the phone or been rough with it in anyway so I know it isnt physical damage of any kind. My carrier is Virgin Mobile in Canada and they are telling me I need to ship it in for repair which will take 3 weeks maybe 4. I can get a loaner from them but takes up to a week. I NEED my phone. Any help would be greatly appreicated! Is my phone just plain old broken? Or is it a software issue that maybe I can fix? I had a HTC HD2 before this and it still works perfect 3 years later...worried about this one.

Three weeks for repair? Where did you buy the phone? Insurance?

NM... I see now... Canada... Virgin Mobile. Man, three weeks? Wow. That's rough.

Have you sent back the phone already? If not perhaps you should try a factory reset, *It will wipe all your data*. Prior to that step you could also try to wipe the cache partition in recovery mode. Appears to be software related more than hardware.

I did do the clear cache and after problem still existed I ended up doing the factory restore. It actually took probably 10 attempts before it even went into the option screen to even attempt the reset. Still did nothing...when you power phone up and Google logo appears, it actually starts to "scroll" once or twice across the display then goes to the animation screen for maybe 2-3 seconds then completely freezes. I just sent the phone out today as it took a week for my loaner phone with the shipping info to show up. They sent me a crappy 50 dollar phone to use for the month which adds salt to the wound after telling me I would receive a Nexus to use. Like I told the rep I spoke to, I bought a top of the line phone to not just have a "phone" and they send me this?? Its like putting your Benz in the shop and getting a 5 yr old Hyundai for a loaner. It is a throw away, prepay phone LOL. They wont send me a new phone and I'm stuck with this carrier for 3 years (so much for no contract, which is what they advertise). I would have dumped them as a provider because of all this but they want $490.00 to break off my "commitment" with them...INSANE! I just hope these phones arent going to be a problem and I will need to send it in all the time for repair.. (sigh). Oh well, we'll see.

Good luck with that recently sent in device, hopefully your issues are resolved.

Feel free to post any issues you encounter with that "50 dollar phone" lol, I'm trying to make light of that loaner as you can probably tell it's REALLY hard. :'(

In all seriousness give us an update once you've received your device back...

Cheers!!!

Yes I will certainly post when I get mine back..and ya, already want to throw this POS loaner out the window. Buttons so small on touchscreen I can hardly use it...gonna be a looong month :-(

So just an update....after waiting a month for my phone to be repaired, it wasnt coming back so started looking into it. Apparently my phone never even made it to the repair facility because the post office said they had to "discard" the package under a policy that deals with "leaking batteries"...um, battery wasnt even sent with the phone! Virgin Mobile now is dragging thier asses saying they need to "investigate" before they replace my Nexus. This response comes from them even with the post office TELLING them phone has been thrown out. I'm just dumbfounded at this point. Dont have my phone, dont even know when I'm getting a replacement and Virgin is treating it like it's my problem to deal with. They NEVER call me back when they say they will but have no problem sending me a bill for service I'm not even using cause the loaner phone sucks. (ps- I called complaining about loaner and they said they would send something else- a week passed and no phone showed. I called to ask where it was and they said " oh, we would have sent the same model to you so there was no need to even ship it! NO call from them even telling me nothing else was available for use! I neede to call them to hear this answer) Needless to say, I will never recommend them to anyone and am almost at the point I'm going to just eat the cancel fees and go to different carrier. WORST customer service I have ever had with anything ever- hands down. Will post if I EVER get my Nexus back- hopefully before something new hits the market :-(

Hey Speakdoctor,

I feel your pain. I am a few short weeks from escaping from Virgin. Look at the bright side... I'm in Manitoba, where they've been promising "HSPA+ is coming soon" ... for the past 3 years! However, I will say my experience with CS has always been really good. Except when I mention HSPA+... they say "its coming soon, we love you, please stay, good things are coming". Meh. In a few weeks I'll be going to a different carrier (gonna try Fido), and getting the Gnex. Hope Virgin doesn't screw you around any more then they already have.

Best of luck!

If you can get into recovery. I'd unlock the boot loader, root, them flash clockwork recovery &a custom rom. If it's not a hardware problem it'll fix your situation
