Hi all,

I dropped my phone (blue Galaxy S3, provider: Sprint) from about 3 feet and it landed flat on the ground, screen-side face down. Afterwards, when I tried to use my phone and pressed the On button, part of the screen (the lower left portion) turned green for a few seconds while the rest of the phone was black. Then after a few seconds the green went away and the entire screen was black. Although the display screen wasn't working, the phone internally was still working because the display light in the upper corner would like up when changing or when i turned it on. Also if I touched the black screen where the security code key pad would be, the phone would vibrate as it normally does. I've tried turning it off and on as well as removing the battery and turning it on again. Nothing seems to work. Now when I turn on the phone or press the On button nothing happens, there isn't even any green. The phone will still charge and power on but the display screen doesn't work.

Does anyone know of a remedy for this unfortunate problem???

Thanks in advance!!

The screen has to be replaced. You broke the LCD layer, and that comes with a whole screen, not separately.

Thanks for the diagnostic. What's you recommendation for replacing the screen? I'd like to do it myself for as cheap as possible (as long as it not too complicated; I don't have experience fixing electronics).

My recommendation for that is - don't. After you break something else while replacing the screen (it's not as easy as the videos show - those aren't the first screens those people have replaced, no matter what they tell you), you'll have to fix that. You'll probably break something fixing the thing you broke ... and by the time you're through fixing everything you could have paid for a new phone.

It's cheaper to pay a shop to do it.
