HELP Keyboard Staying Up

DROID x 2.3.3 android version

keyboard freezing and staying up must pull battery to reset.

Are you using a third party keyboard?

No. I am using the stock keyboard.

I'm going to guess it's app related.

At this point anyhow. Usually downloaded apps are responsible for a lot of issues.

First off, are you using a non stock sms app? Or any non stock app that requires keyboard?

Second, are you running a bunch of utility apps, like task managers/killers battery apps?

Stock keyboard, chomp sms but also happens when using stock txt and facebook, tapatalk, etc

No task killer etc. Never been rooted.

Back up your contacts, calendar events. Or sync them to google.

I prefer to use My Phone Explorer, but as long as you back up some way, it'll be ok.

Do a factory reset. Best way. SD card will not be effected.

I suspect, some app messed up your keyboard somehow.

I have heard of a couple times, when people reselected their android keyboard in settings, and the problem went away. You can try it, but I dont place a lot of faith into it.

Of course you will lose your downloaded apps, but Market remembers your paid apps, so you can get them again.

I ended up doing another factory reset. What a pain! It sucks having to re-layout the phone. Hopefully no keyboard issues, if so I may have to go back to I and give up a few things I have enjoyed on the X.
