Help! Locked out of phone because of an emoji in the password

My daughter changed the password on her Huawei P30 Lite, and she included an emoji character (fire U+1F525). The phone let her change the password, but on the login screen upon restarting the phone, there are no emojis on the keyboard. There seems to be no way of entering an emoji. I tried various unicode codes, and I also tried an external keyboard and using the Alt key and the code, to no avail.

I would like to avoid a factory reset. How can I enter an emoji into the password textbox?
