Help!! Maxwest Orbit 5400

Whenever I try to text a number with a different area code than mine, my phone converts the area code. For example my area code is (832) whenever I try to text my aunt who has a (409) my phone changes it to (832) causing me to text the wrong number. Is there a way to fix this?

Try clearing the cache for the phone dialer in the settings.

I tried and it still does the same thing .. Do you think maybe I have a defected phone

It seems like a software glitch. Does it do it even when you reboot the phone?
