Help me decide: Nexus 5 or Moto X?

Re: Help me decide - N5 or Moto X

I don't. I think the note 3 is the only decent phone Samsung made since they started making smartphones

I agree. I'm loving my Note 3. Haven't been fan of the Galaxy S Series.

I think the Galaxy Nexus is a great phone...and the Galaxy S2 was pretty good also. No complaints at all...

Re: Help me decide - N5 or Moto X

Battery: Moto X
Screen: N5
Form factor: Moto X
Updates/Support: N5
Features: Moto X
Camera: Yet to be seen but I'm going to say N5
Voice calling: Moto X (3 mics)
My 2 cents
I'm not trying to rain on your parade but how do you know that the Moto X has better features?

Just guessing, Nexus 4 didn't have any special features that made it stand out from the rest. Not saying all of that is 100% true, just preliminary thoughts :)

Re: Help me decide - N5 or Moto X

They should think it is a bad phone. I don't think my phone is defective; I think the Moto X is a bad phone. This is like politics: some people love Obama, some people don't. Some people love the Moto X, I don't. I think the GS4 is better.
So do I, but the Moto X isn't a bad phone by any means. Not liking something isn't the same as it being bad (See: iPhone)

The S4 is way better than the Moto X I had the S4 and tried to use the Moto X. The S4 has a better, bigger screen way better camera, replaceable battery( although I've never needed to replace a battery yet)and an sd card. The Moto X has a nicer build, fits in the hand better, but it should because it's smaller. Better battery management on the Moto X but I mean I can make it through my day on my S4 no problem. I don't need a phone to last me 2 days. I plug mine in every night. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion but I have owned and used both and the S4 is miles ahead

Re: Help me decide - N5 or Moto X

I appreciate all the input. I am really leaning towards the Moto X. However, at this point, I think the N5 release is a few days away. I will wait until it is official to decide. Do you think the N5/KitKat will have any of the Moto X software features?

Re: Help me decide - N5 or Moto X

I have a Moro x and it's nice but trust me, you want the nexus 5. My moto x is gone the day my n5 arrives. No contest or thought involved.

Doubt it will have active notifications since it doesn't have an AMOLED screen so it would bleed battery life if it did lol
Maybe touchless controls, the note 3 has a butchered version of what the moto x has...

Just wondering, is it the faster updates or the better/larger screen + camera?

Re: Help me decide - N5 or Moto X

Yes but you're making it seem like you're going to tell them everything bad that happened to you and your phone, that's going to make them think the Moto X is just a bad phone in general when really it is one of the best phones available at the moment.

Let the OP decide whose comments to trust and believe.

Re: Help me decide - N5 or Moto X

That guide was posted days after I received the update. I took the update when it came to my phone, before anyone knew it would break root. I was actually on XDA when someone first reported it about an hour after I took the update. Fortunately I was only down for about 6 hours before someone pointed me toward RSDLite to recover my phone. The guide on how to preserve root and everything came days later.

Yes. Just like people post positive reviews, I am posting a negative review. I point to several specific things here, and I have pointed out much more in threads on XDA. I'm not just trolling and ragging on the phone; I have had a legitimately bad experience with it, and I am telling people about it when they ask.
You broke rule #1 of rooting. NEVER take OTA updates. Also, you totally didn't need to use RSDLite to fix your phone. A simple reboot into the bootloader and "/fastboot clear cache" would have fixed your bootloop. Don't take out your anger due to lack of knowledge.

This tells me anything else I need to know about your take about this phone, and Android in general.

I think the post following yours basically summed up what I wanted to say but couldn't put into words :)

Re: Help me decide - N5 or Moto X

so you bought a used phone, rooted and rom'd and it somehow didn't perform like a new device? Your software issues were caused by it being rooted.
Screen don't just crack for no reason. Whoever had the phone before you dropped it, or it wasn't packed properly in shipping. Maybe the temp change caused the crack that was already initiated to finish what had already started.
My experience with the Moto X has been excellent. By far my favorite phone I have ever owned. But, I don't root or rom my phones, don't see the need, and I have zero software issues, no self cracking screen, excellent battery life, good pictures. Software issues, your fault, you rooted it. Motorola didn't break the software, you did.
Screen? if the screen were self splitting on all Moto X phones, you would have seen threads about it on this site.

Re: Help me decide - N5 or Moto X

N5. I've owned the htc one, note 3, LG g2 and the Moto x. So far the g2 is my favorite out of the bunch, but the N5 is shaping up to be a beat as well. You can't beat the price for what you get. The Moto x is a good phone, but I need something a little more and a bigger screen.

Word on the street is the N5 battery life will not compete with the MotoX. So if you value battery life...stay away from N5. :-/

Word on the street was that the Moto X was going to have top of the line specs. "The street" is not a credible source :p

Amen to that! I think JerryH just dropped some inside on the battery life on G+ with the N5. Not looking so good...

The fact that I can get almost 2 days on my Moto X is awesome, though.

I am currently on my second day without charging my S4 and have 73% battery, 1 hour and 20 minutes of screen time!
Probably not going to happen but I'm on track for 8 days and 5 hours of screen time lolol
SlimBean ROM is awesome, I'll post screenshots when it reaches 1% :D

I'm not going to down talk the S4. I didn't enjoy the phone, it was too big for me and I love on screen buttons too much.

That's not to say it's not a bad phone, it just wasn't for me.
