Help me root my s7 edge, freshly updated to android 7

Can anybody direct me to any useful information about or instructions for rooting a Samsung Galaxy S7 phone running Android 7/nougat? The operating system is brand spanking new so I haven't found too many yet which would make me feel comfortable about trying.I've never rooted a phone before. I have a galaxy s7 edge SM-G935A, which I just updated to android 7. Nougat and I just don't get along so far. I want out.

Some General advice on what to do with it once I've done the deed would also be helpful, especially as pertains to security. I understand rooting can be a security risk if mishandled.

Google says this is an AT&T model. Just so you know, US versions of the S7 Edge can be rooted but since the bootloader is locked, rooting is about all you can do. You can't run custom ROMs on the phone or run a custom recovery.

I tried rooting my T-Mobile S7 Edge and my US unlocked version which still has a locked bootloader, and I absolutely could not get rid of the lag and severe battery drain, a common complaint due to the root method.
