I just wanted to make a nandroid backup of my phone.
I have ROM Toolbox, which uses ROM Manager. If I try to Reboot into Recovery via ROM Manager, the phone hangs (yellow "!" inside white triangle), so I assume I don't *have* a recovery. (If there was one, it may have disappeared while I was thrashing about trying to get the OTA update to work, which included a couple of factory resets.) ROM Manager has an option to flash a recovery, but their list of choices doesn't include the RAZR. Without the recovery, I can't do a nandroid backup.
I'm new to this, so I don't really understand "recovery":
Can someone enlighten me?

- What is it, and what does it do?
- Is it one file or many?
- Where do I look for it on the phone?
- Does it have to be made specially for the RAZR?
- Where can I get one if I don't have one?
- Is ClockworkMod Recovery the only one or are there others?
Can someone enlighten me?
