help motomaker upgrade without losing unlimited

I hope you can help. I am trying to upgrade my wives phone as a surprise for christmas. Normally I transfer an upgrade to a dumb phone line we have but thru motomaker it only shows her line available for upgrade but she will lose her unlimited. is there a way to do this online or do I have to go in store and they can take care of it. Or is this possible at all?

Which provider are you on? I didn't have a problem keeping my "unlimited" data and upgrading
