eSim only - Hard pass

The hatred is for us who change phones frequently. This isn't an easy process unless it's once in a great while. 9 times out of 10 it cannot be done without the assist of support. It's horribly inconvenient. Like I said if you don't switch phones then you wouldn't get the hatred
I have never had an issue switching phones with an esim. In the 10 times (maybe more) I have done it. I have never had to involve customer service. The switch has always been seamless.

Sounds like maybe it is a carrier issue.

Either you are only changing phones when you purchase a phone OR you don't swap phones often. There isn't a carrier out there that you wouldn't have issues with this. ESIM is not built for frequent multiple swaps between devices. It's for the average consumer that buys a phone and uses that one phone.

What carrier do you use?

Google Fi.

I may have misunderstood. I was initially thought you were talking about about upgrading to a new phone.

Now it sounds like when are meaning using multiple phones and swapping between which one is primary.

I have done that several times. I seem to remember it being a bit of a PITA. I don't remember having to involve customer service. But it has been long enough that I am not positive.

Yeah, the issue is that your eid # gets stuck and that's when you have to call support.

usmobile has a limited set of esmin transfers each billing cycle. So once you exceed the limit. You have to chat with CS and go through a few indification verifications before getting a QR Code. So its clearly not as simple as just swapping a psim.

Visible also forced me to contact chat when I switched devices once too many times. The rep even questioned me on why I kept switching devices, which I didn't like. But after that one time. The esim swapps went without a hitch.

I read that is supposedly costs mvno's a few dollars per Esim transfer which is why they put limits. Must be true since Psim transfers have no such limitations.

I got my 10 Pro XL. I went through the eSim setup with US Mobile. The first attempt failed--I didn't have network coverage because they forgot to tell me to turn off and delete the eSIM on my Pixel 5a. After that was handled, the next attempt succeeded. But then I noticed I didn't have the ability to send RCS texts. US Mobile installed another eSIM which they said should give me RCS texting ability.

I was wondering why the first eSIM would not have RCS texting ability. After all, I bought the 10 Pro XL from them! After installing the third eSIM I still couldn't send RCS texts. They suggested I uninstall Google Messages and reinstall. Nope, not gonna do that. Besides, so far as I know, that isn't easily accomplished. Instead, I cleared Messages cache. That didn't work either. So I went to Google Play and updated Google Messages. That fixed it.

So, my intro to eSIMs was not a good one.
