HELP needed S3 keep freezing/scren going dark

HI all
I just got my new S3 a few weeks back and i have noticed that it will randomly go dark and then freeze. I cant do anything and one of the buttons light up. The only way i can remedy it is if i pop out the battery and reboot. I have tried the factory reset once but it still happens. The issue only seems to occur if i go on the internet. Any ideas? Also im kinda new to smartphones so any clear and concise help would be must appreciated. Thanks

I can only assume that you're using the stock browser - there was another thread about this issue (if I can find it I'll update this thread) but the solution was to use a different browser; Chrome was mentioned but I don't think it was the only one that solved the problem.

I have never heard of that issue but sounds like a pretty interesting issue... if Chrome doesn't work let us know.

Is it too late to return it for a new one?
Personally I have never felt a "work around" was a solution when a brand new product is not performing as per designed.

well i bought it end if August so im not sure what the period for a free replacement is. If this Chrome fix doesnt seem to work il will def be exchanging it.

Verizon has a 14 day return policy.
Again, the heck with Chrome....take it back if it is within the return period.
You spent your hard earned money, get what you paid for.

I have the same issue...I just received the blank screen and I only use Chrome.

I've had this phone since launch. Just within the last couple weeks this has started happening to me. Only when I use the stock browser. It only happens if I hit the bookmarks button. I can still use the browser but I have to type in the Web addresses. If I hit the bookmarks it freezes, then goes black, and then 20 seconds later it says Internet stopped responding and it force closes. The phone unfreezes at that point, but still very frustrating.

I had same issue the black out screen....and need to pull battery out to restart the phone....and I went through 3 brand new ones ( and last one i testing out with d/l no app on it )........those all happened less than 10 days...I spoke to samsung rep... they said there is no report was filed on this issue ( well he even tell me there is no report about phone heat up itself.. but i found it on their website somewhere and address the issue )...... but i did couple searches online...there are others reported the same issue... i think i am going to return this phone for now even though i love this phone soo much.... maybe you can call them and they will send you another one? ..Verizon has one year warranty thing ...to replace you another one. Let me know what's the outcome~~ thanks!

i'm still using Chrome, and i had the incident happen on 10/13...i received the update right after and have had zero issues since

sometimes my browser just stuck on loading screen, and some app stop working until i restart the phone, then it work again.....cellphone heat up itself when not using?...... not sure if you have these issues?

My screen keeps freezing, and goes to the black screen and will not do anything. I have had my phone since the release date and I never had this issue until the last update! The only thing I can do is take the battery out.

Mine does it even worse after the latest update. I have reset my phone and everything. When mine starts up sometimes the padlock logo with custom pops up and my phone is 100% stock. I dunno

verizon, and stock launcher. i use an otterbox and even in that, the phone has never overheated.

I have had my VZW GS3 since day 1. I have had this same problem. It seemed to occur after talking on the phone and when I go to hang up, the phone is locked up and the only solution is to pull the battery. I downloaded Chrome and it still does it. The only thing I can notice is if I am using the phone on the internet or any app that uses the internet and take a call, when I finish the call, the phone locks up. This isn't scientific and I need to test it to see if I can duplicate the issue.
