Switched from blackberry to the lg g3. Begging to think it was a big mistake. Allthis phone does is frustrate me!

Problem 1 - picture messaging will not work. Someone will send a picture and it will say 'downloading' forever until it gives up. A few days later the message will pop up with the picture file and i will click download and it will download fine. Nothing different, yet it works.

PDF files. Some days they will download. Others.... Just spent 40 mins waiting for my phone bill to download and it didnt.

Google play services needs to be updated, but yet again nothing happens. Just stays on 'downloading' so now half my apps wont work bc they want google services updated.

Ive tried all on wifi, on mobile data and with both turned on at the same time. Ive been throigh clearing caches and data and such. Ive had to do a factory reset before to het the play store to work.

What do i do? Im ready to lose money and sell this thing for cheap and go back to my blackberry bc the phone is only doing half of what i want!

Picture messaging, PDF downloads and Google Play - all your complaints are due to internet connectivity trouble. So let's try to sort that out.

First, clearing caches was probably pointless and certainly is now since you've done it. So leave them alone. A factory reset probably the same. And going back to Blackberry isn't really a viable option since they are very likely toast. So let's move on...

Some basic information to get started:

Does WiFi works at all?
Do you have a poor or no connection only on your home network or any WiFi network?
Does your mobile data work at all?
If so, do you get 2G, 3G, 4G?
Is mobile data poor or nonexistent everywhere or only some locations?
Are you seeing any error messages?
Who is your service provider?

Answer what you can and maybe someone here can help you get going.

Thank you for the reply.

Connection on wifi and mobile data has been great. Always a strong connection. Fast to browse the internet whether i use mobile data or wifi.

For recieving picture messages I can be sitting in the exact same spot and one day a picture will come through, and the next it wont. This can be on mobile data or on wifi. Both with good connections.

When the picture doesnt come through i think i end up with a message that just says 'unable to download'

When the pdf or apps wont download there is no error message. Just says downloading and doesnt stop.

I believe it is 4G and I am with Koodo (im from Canada).

So im not sure it has anything to do with the actual connection because both work great.

You say you have good internet connections, but have you checked your speeds? Install Ookla Speed test from the Play store and see what you get on mobile data and WiFi.

Picture messages, aka MMS, are you having trouble with them on WiFi, mobile data or both?
If on mobile data only, contact your service provider. They may need to reset your APN info.
If on WiFi only, does it happen anywhere, only at home or ???
As for downloads, you might try a different browser or a download manager. I like Firefox for a browser and Advanced Download Manager.

Android since v1.0. Linux user since 2001.

I will try to download the speed test. I should have mentioned in my original post that i cannot download anything from the play store. It just continously downloads and nothing happens.

Try resetting App preferences. Go to Settings, Apps, All, tap the three dot menu button, and reset preferences. See if that helps with the play store.

Have you tried uninstalling the updates, rebooting and reinstalling the update to the play store? Give that a try and let us know. Good luck.

Personally I'd just take it back to Koodo and get them to check things. It's their phone recently given to you new and you're paying for their services. But trust us that android can do everything a BB can do. It is probably just a random setting.

And its happened again....things will not update or download from the play store. I followed mrsmumbles way again but it didnt work this time....

Just ran a speed test on my phone over wifi. Download of 94mbps upload of 11.

Ran the test this morning on mobile data in a factory and ended up with 14 down and I think 3 up.

Ahhhh...I think you are out of space on your device.

Install this simple little app called Storage Truth. It's very small and will install in very limited space. It will tell you how much space you actually have left for installing apps, downloading email, etc.

https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...pps/details?id=sa.storagetruth&token=A1VbMOd9

To make space you can:
Delete texts or emails. If you have a lot saved on the phone, this can help.
Delete or move photos, videos, documents, etc.
Uninstall app updates.
Uninstall apps.
Clear cache files.

However, this will only make space temporarily as cache files will rebuild over time. Also, while clearing cache files won't hurt anything, they're there to speed up operation and should be left alone.

If you can't move stuff to a SD card, move them to your computer or cloud storage.

i gave up and went to koodo. phone is going out for repair. pretty sad that a phone that is 28 days old can't just be exchanged for a new one after you've been on the phone with tech support and they can't help you...

anyways, if i still have problems after its been 'fixed' koodo will take it back.

for the time being i have a Samsung s3 to use and i don't mind it. and they got rid of my phone bill for this month.

the problems i have been having are not common with the LG g3 are they? if i end up giving back the phone not sure if i should stick with the g3 or try galaxy s4?
