Rooted my wifes dinc and flashed cm7 all was well for several months then yesterday the phone got really hot and now won't turn on. Any ideas
If it doesn't power up they won't be able to tell...if they somehow manage to use their voodoo magic on it and get it to power up, your up a creek.
I'll argue that statement, but I'll argue in a nice way.I have returned two rooted phones due to hardware issues and I never had any problems. One was a wifi issue, the other was an LCD issue.
That may be so, but did they ever get it to boot so they could see that beautiful Cyanogen Mod 7 logo with the swirling arrow? I could be wrong but I'd guess they didn't...or they just didn't care since they're making not so much money to deal with an often hostile public (i.e. Why doesn't my phone work!!! Fix it NOW for free or give me a better one blah blah blah!!!!)
And I've never been "hostile" toward any VZW employee. I learned that if you walk in with a smile on your face, you can pretty much walk out of the store with whatever you want. If you give them attitude "(i.e. Why doesn't my phone work!!! Fix it NOW for free or give me a better one blah blah blah!!!!)" is when they just turn it over to a manager, who starts quoting rules and regulations.
In both situations I was asked if any modifications had been made to the phone, which I replied "Yup, it's rooted". My answer was, both times, followed by them asking me what rom's I had tried.

That is true for most business encounters!
I can't tell you how many people come in with steam coming out of their ears demanding we fix Best Buy's mistakes.
I always tell my guys to never take it personally, that they are not pissed at you, they are pissed that their device does not work. Remain calm and assure them that the problem will get solved.
Sometimes it works. More often the device gets fixed a little slower than it's brethren on the bench.
