Help pls! tried updating rooted htc one m8..

Welcome to the forums. You can get into recovery...that's a pretty good sign. I think the best thing to do is to flash an RUU. You will need a Windows machine in order to do this. I am not very familiar with RUUs, so I will need to flag down a few people.

Thanks! also for the insanely fast reply.

I did read something about that, but now im afraid to make it worse so didnt try. :p
I should mention i have S-On.

Hello all,

I think i really messed up my m8. And tried several things and did a lot of research on these forums and other sites.. but i'm no android genius, so i hope u guys can help me out.

I had a rooted htc one m8 and i rooted it like 4 months ago i think. All fine and well up untill since couple of weeks sometimes certain pages wouldnt load while browsing internet. So i decided to update my m8 since i thought this would solve it. I did some research and i had to download and flash the stock recovery to be able to do this. So i wasnt sure which stock recovery to download and searched for a while to not make a mistake here.
(But i think it went wrong here..... i downloaded one that i thought was the right one, and flashed it.)

This worked and my m8 just booted up normally and i thought id succeeded, i searched for updates and sure enough it downloaded and installed updates. but after the install bar was full, it rebooted but after the typical starting HTC screen.. all went black... and it wont start up any further. Its not a typical black, u can still see its using power, so its not OFF! (sorry for my english, hope u understand).

It will keep staying stuck in this state and pressing and holding the power wont shut it down. The only thing i can do is get back to bootloader. i tried flashing my previous twrp recovery again, which worked, but apperantly i didnt back up anything (which i thought i did).

I dont know what to do anymore and could really use the help!..
(some extra info, no idea if its usefull for u)
version 0.5
version-bootloader 3.19.0.0000
version baseband 1.25.214500021.06G
version-main: - (<-- says nothing? which i found weird)
cidnum: HTC__E11

i had the openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.2-m8 installed before it all happened and tried installing the stock recovery recovery_4.16.401.10 (which i think was the wrong one should have used recovery_3.62.401.1)

its a dutch one m8 which is i believe the unlocked version.

Many thanks in advance and apologies for the long text, just wanted to give as many info as i could..

Hello! I'm going to try and help you as best as I can. S-OFF should not stop you from flashing a ROM. You can flash a ROM with S-On, however you must flash the boot.img of that ROM, or else you will get bootloops. I have some questions:

Is your bootloader still unlocked? Does it say unlocked at the top of the bootloader screen?

Can you mount the phone to a PC to load a ROM?

In the bootloader you would have to use ADB commands to push and pull files. Flashing the RUU would use similar commands.
