Help! Problem with lock screen pattern

Hoping someone can help! When my phone screen is locked and I try and unlock it using my pattern the screen turns black for a few seconds and then returns to the lock screen. It's not a wrong pattern, as if I draw it incorrectly it rejects the pattern. I can unlock my phone only with the fingerprint option.

I can't try and change the pattern as it requests the pattern and the settings stops working and I have to reopen it.

Figured rebooting the phone should work but since I have to input the pattern to start the phone I'm hesitant to try it incase it means I can't even restart my phone.

I'm using an aquaris v plus from bq and running Android 8.1.

Help please!

You'll need to do factory reset .

It sounds like a corrupt pattern-reading app, so you might have to back everything up and reflash the stock firmware. See https://www.getdroidtips.com/stock-rom-bq-aquaris-v-plus-firmware/ (and do a full backup).

(Use the latest firmware - 1.13.0 Aquaris VS Plus.)

Welcome to Android Central! Are you able to boot into Safe Mode? https://www.getdroidtips.com/boot-bq-aquaris-v-plus-into-mode/. If so, see if it unlocks correctly that way.

Original poster here! If I restart in safe mode and the code still doesn't work, does that mean I'll have to do a reset anyway? So I know if I should back up my phone before I try. And no, not a new screen cover but I might try removing it just in case! Thanks for the help

It doesn't hurt to back up the phone while you can. If the fingerprint sensor works now, I don't see why it wouldn't work in Safe Mode, so I think you'll be ok.
