Hey guys I'm interested in rooting my device but the link I saw for instructions didn't work so here I am. If anyone has time to give me the run down I would be very appreciative.

To root:

unrevoked

Here are the directions:

public:unrevoked3 [RootWiki]

You need to install the HBOOT drivers linked on the wiki page if you are using Windows, and uninstall HTC Sync if you installed it on your PC.

It's a very straight forward and easy to use program to root and it has just been updated for the latest hardware.

Just be aware that if you root and make changes to your stock software, like remove bloatware, you may have problems with future OTA’s and have to restore back to stock to get them. Be sure you make a Nandroid backup, it will be part of the root process, and keep a copy in a safe place as well as on your SD card.

Hope this helps.

So I'm new to rooting. If I root can I retain some portions of HTC Sense or is it completely wiped and back to Android Stock?

Let me explain. I've had my Inc for about 6 months now and this is the first actual android forum that I've joined. I was able to find and do everything I wanted just by searching through the various forums and now it's time to give back to the community.

Rooting doesn't remove anything from your phone. After rooting your phone will look and behave exactly as it did BEFORE you rooted. All rooting does is modify the phone with super user permissions which lets u modify/customize various things.

I know it seems a little scary at first but just follow the instructions that were given toward the top of this thread and if you have troubles let me know and I'll try to help the best I can.
