Help Rooting Samsung Replenish

have a samsung replenishs boost n im trying to root it and make it a better unit but don't have any idea what im doing anyone with some patients that can explain this to me step by step to the letter like i would greatly appriciate it and trying to make it super user not sure im calling it the rite name:-[

The absolute first thing I would suggest is that you read this: Rooting - is it for me? Some Q&A | Android Central. Here are three quotes from that article:
