Help! someone convince me why the Nexus is better again!

Re: Help! some one convine me why the nexus is better again!

I got a great idea for this thread! Convince us we need the RAZR and we can all meet in the middle and get iPhones!!

Oh wait both of those ideas suck....

Re: Help! some one convine me why the nexus is better again!

If you need someone to convince you then you should stick with the Razr. You'll be sorry when Jellybean comes out and your just getting ICS. But i'm sure you'll be happy til then.

Re: Help! some one convine me why the nexus is better again!

I just saw the demo for the nexus at the local store. They let me do side my side with the razor. What was very surprising was that the razor had a much more vibrant screen and did not seem as pixalated, we ran netflix on both side by side and the razor was much sharper and more vibrant. Also, even with the buttons at the bottom minimized for the movie on the nexus, the nexus still had the same sized usable screen as the razor. When the bottom bar minimizes, it only disappears half way. I thought the nexus was supposed to have a much better screen.

This phone basically has three things going for it that no other phone (other than the GSM Nexus) has:

1. It's the first device to officially have ICS
2. It's a Nexus device and the reference device for ICS so it will get updates first and faster, Will also be among the first to get Jellybean (Android 4.1 or whatever it ends up being numbered)
3. All reports show zero shutter lag on the camera

Other than these three things it is a nice device but nothing to write home about,

As for your description of the screen, everyone's perceptions are different. Both phones use variations of Pentile displays but on paper this one is better, but a lot can be said for perception.

It's your choice, no one is forcing you to trade your RAZR in for this. There seems to be an elitist attitude running through this forum (and Andrew's reviews) that people who actually choose something else must be crazy, but I say choose what you want and go with it without shame. The RAZR will be among the firs handful of device to get ICS early next year.

Here is another comparison of screens, this one including the RAZR.

Having seen neither in person, but preferring real to vibrant, I'm willing to bet that I'd prefer the LCD in general. I'm still waiting for the GN, however. Video fidelity means little compared to having a Nexus device. For me.

Re: Help! some one convine me why the nexus is better again!

See I was expecting the nexus to be more vibrant but it was in fact the other way around.

Let me be more clear. I wont get a razor. I don't like how it feels in my hand and I want a removable battery. I was just curious why the razor would seem more vibrant and clear.

Re: Help! some one convine me why the nexus is better again!

While all the before mentioned features are enough for me, one great thing about the cosmetics of the phone is, there is no logos on the face of the phone.
It makes for a unique looking device even when it's off. It's so clean, and uncluttered.

Now we just replace the battery door with a nondescript one it would be perfect.

Re: Help! some one convine me why the nexus is better again!

Maybe someone at the store tweaked the display settings on the GN so that the Razr would appear to have a nicer screen in order to sell more of something they can actually sell at this time.

Re: Help! some one convine me why the nexus is better again!

Did you check the brightness settings on each? When the Bionic first came out, I went to the local VZW to take a look; the screen was barely readable. Someone had changed the brightness settings. Unsurprising given the number of people who play with the phones on display.

I don't see what the problem is. The razr is a great phone. If the gn wasn't coming out soon I'd definitely get one. Either way you'll get a great phone.

Re: Help! some one convine me why the nexus is better again!

sorry my Galaxy S Fascinate has a better screen than the razr when held up side by side watching HD videos...

Here's the deal: there is a demo unit gnex displayed at my vzw store right now that I have played with more than once. It is displayed right next to the rezound. The nexus screen is jaw dropping! The rezound's screen is NOT. It's a nice screen, best one on any htc device yet, but it is nowhere close to the gnex screen. And the razr screen is lesser than both. I have looked at them all side by side by side. Even the vzw store associates who were there with me while I was watching an HD you tube clip said that the gnex screen is the best screen they have seen. There is no question, the nexus screen is absolutely superior. Bottom line, samsung has been a step or two ahead in screen tech for a couple of years now. Why is this surprising?

Can you explain. I've posted in multiple threads where people have said this, asking for how it's better than the Rezound screen. No one has given details. Is it sharper? Does text look better? Do photos look better? Obviously we know its brighter and the the white and black colors are better. But what really makes the Nexus screen so much better than the Rezound? Because I love the Rezound screen and I've been wanting to see a Nexus but no stores around here are letting me see the live Nexus'. My bro-law has a Nexus but I'm not driving two and a half hours to look at it.

The nexus screen colors are so sharp and vivid and detailed and bright. The rezound screen right next to it (don't misunderstand me, the rezound is a great screen) just looked kinda dull by comparison. I'll put it to you this way: I was watching an HD you tube clip on the nexus with one of the vzw associates and another associate (who knew pretty much absolutely nothing about the nexus, he didn't even know that it existed until I told him about it the week before) was walking by and I said to him "hey, come and look at this." He came over and looked at the HD video and his eyes got real big and he looked at his buddy (the other associate) and said "man, I'm getting that phone." While I had them both right there, I grabbed the rezound right next to it and I said "And a bunch of people are arguing and trying to say (I was referring to the people here in the forums) that this rezound has just as good of a screen and some are saying it's actually better than the nexus." Then I said "But look at them, I mean seriously c'mon." And they both agreed and said "no way man, no comparison." The guy who came over to see the nexus and then said he was going to get it after seeing that video, went back behind the counter and then he turned back around and looked at me again with this kinda blown away look and again told me "I'm gonna get that phone man." When you see the nexus screen, you will know what I'm talking about. Plus, the rezound is super thick, like a tank. Twice as thick as the nexus. I held them both, I know. The nexus is much thinner, lighter, sexier and feels soo much better in hand. Please believe me, it is by far the BEST android device to date. And my friend has an SGSII epic touch 4G. It's even nicer than that, not by a whole lot but it's nicer.

The Razr probably did look better and so will the Rezound. The Gnex is a fake 720p because of pentile. It is probably closer to a 480. Plus the Gnex GPU is a few years old. Why Samsung chose the last gen hardware for this phone I will never know? At least the Verizon missed deadlines gave me a chance to do some more research and I will be holding off until Q1/Q2. I prefer to get in on the beginning of the next gen cpu/gpus and not on the tail end of last gen. The Gnex is a good phone, just not great. If I was more desperate for a phone it would probably still be my first choice over the Razr and Rezound...mainly because of ICS now and I like the design better.

the razr has pentile too..FAIL....... With verizon you will be waiting months after every other carrier gets some new gen tech.

Lol, 480p huh? Well, I can tell you've never held one because you have no clue what you're talking about. No disrespect to you, and I mean that. The resolution is AMAZING! Now, I do agree with you about the the old gpu. Not sure why they did that other than the hardware acceleration that comes with ICS making up the difference. They used pentile because in order to get SuperAmoled HD resolution, they had to go the pentile route. They are not quite able to achieve SuperAmoled plus HD resolution yet, or at least they couldn't when they were making the nexus.

If you hold off until Q1/Q2 of 2020, you'll probably be able to grab something really fancy and what is discussed in Q1/Q2 of 2012 will be ancient.
