Hey guys,

New here and just got my Samsung Note 2 tablet yesterday.

Noticed that if I turn it off, or put it into sleep mode for an hour or more and go back on, it will download apps itself and put them on the main page (like candy crush, or droid games), or it automatically go to the app store to download those games when I go past the lock screen.

Is this a common issue? Just really annoying. Thanks for all your help in advance.

Hello, welcome to android central. Do you have the note 2 phablet, or one its tablet counterparts? This is not a common problem, but it could be caused by a malicious app that is current downloaded on your phone. Have you recently downloaded any third party apps prior to this issue?

I have the tablet 10.1. I went on a little bit of a downloading tear when I first got it so it could be from a number of apps I guess. Maybe the flash player I downloaded from play store. I don't remember who makes it but its logo is the 4 power bars in gray and green. Wow very descriptive I know

I think Jennifer is correct in that you downloaded an app that is causing the problem.
I would get "appbrain ad detector". It'll give you a readout of suspicious permissions for the apps you have installed. It also works in real-time, so whenever you install a new app, it'll give you a notification about any suspect permissions that are attached to that app.

Once you uninstall the problem app(s), you should not have that issue anymore.
It does sound like you installed an app that is causing the problem.

Deleted the flash player I installed and reinstalled the one listed on the forum and all is good. Thanks

Hello,

For your reference, you can turn off automatic updating in the GooglePlay app settings. You will still get prompts that updated apps are available for download, but they won't download unless you manually do so via the GooglePlay app. I have mine set this way because there are a few apps I wish not to update at all. And I would like to manually update others when I want to do so. Because, otherwise, they always seem to auto update at the strangest times, like in sleep mode or the during the EXACT time you're in the middle of a system firmware update. I hope this helps.

Glad you found the source :-) I tried to recreate the problem but could not find the flash player in question.

And for future reference, I would suggest keeping some kind of virus protection on your devices. I haven't heard of the one Raymond suggested, but AVG, and Lookout are good ones as well. I would also advise adding apps in smaller increments. Then you can more easily monitor what goes on with your tablet. Otherwise, again, welcome to the forums!
