Help! . . . USB, no PC connection

When plugging my Play into a PC with a USB cable, nothing happens! The PC does not recognise an MTP like device had been plugged in. I have set the Play to behave like an MTP device when plugged into a PC. Do I need to change some other setting? My Nexus 5 works just fine.

Have you downloaded Motorola pc software/drivers from their site.
