Help with camera

I have the HTC Incredible with a supposed 8MP camera. I have the settings set to 8MP resolution - and quality is set to High. when i take a picture and remove it from my SD card it is only 1m. shouldnt it be bigger when set to the highest settings?

how do you set the mega pixels? i dont see that option anywhere

What's the res when you're moving it to your comp?

Maybe it's just being compressed?
