help with custom rom

I installed the AOKP ROM but my phone gets so dam hot when I play Gamez it worries me so I wanna switch to another one.how do I do it? Do I just install another like if I had regular ROM or do I need to go back to factory ROM then install new custom one?
Plus not sure my recovery back up worked when I did install AOKP......am I in trouble?
Also titanium backup shows installed but I can not find it.I did a back up after purchasing it,is that one good?
Lots of questions sorry but appreciate all the help I can get.

you sir shouldnt have rooted your phone! with root comes allot of unknown for newbs

not sure what rom version your running or what modems you flashed / gapps

download your new rom save to sd card
boot into recovery make a backup
factory data reset
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache
flash rom
flash gapps
reboot

Thanks for the help. ROM I have installed is the newest AOKP jelly bean with gapps. Did everything step by step also the back up but it did not take long and not sure if it did properly. Anyway to find out?

you can try and restore the backup and see what happens but that AOKP i believe is a all in one rom / gapps .....give liquid smooth a try its stable its AOKP / CM 10.2 all rolled up together
