Help with getting Text Message notifications.

You know I ran across a post for another messaging app for wear and one of the devs says that clearing data from Google play services and a factory reset on the watch might help. Someone had issues with the app missing and not syncing on their watch and the dev suggested that.

I'll Try that and report back. I really like the LTE Urbane, but it really has been a problem child for me. My normal Urbane was a perfect child as it never misbehaved.

So I decided to humor Verizon and use their Messages+ and when tethered it works. Messenger still doesn't work for some reason. Calls work when my phone is off but not texts. What am I doing wrong?

Text won't work with the phone off on any messaging app because messaging uses cloudsync. When I used messages+ as my default, I was able to get notifications and see my text messages away from my phone but my phone had to be on and connected to a data source.

Ah, OK. I thought NumberSync worked even if the phone was off? Anyway I think I finally got it working. I had to turn off Watch Shares Number with phone option for both text and Calls in order for Messenger to Work. I've tried Calls with my phone away and off and they work. So all I need to do is see if Messenger works when away from my phone.

Hallelujah!!!! Hahaha.

Numbersync or verizon sync or numbershare or whatever it's called only works with calls with the phone off. Everything else is cloudsync which uses a cloud server to communicate to your phone so it needs to be turned on.

Alright, So calls work as we have both tested and what not and I finally receive Messenger when tethered to my phone on Bluetooth. However, I am not getting texts when Bluetooth is disconnected. I still get calls but no text messages. That is the last hurdle.

So all of your text messages from your phone is showing up on your watch. You have the icon in the messenger app on your watch that allows you to switch from your watch number and phone number?

When you are not connected to bluetooth, does your watch have a little cloud with a line through it? Do you have cloudsync turned on in the Android Wear app?

That was it! All that was left was to enable cloud sync! It works perfectly now! Thanks for helping me out with this.

For anyone who has this problem in the Future this is the (Hopefully) Correct Way to setup the 2nd Edition Urbane with Verizon. It should theoritcally work with all Models.

First of all, assuming you are not on an ATT Plan, remove your ATT Sim as that will cause issues.

Then you follow this Guide by json405

http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg...messages-att-lg-watch-urbane-2nd-edtiion.html

Then Check to make sure that phone calls work when the phone is off. Next is Check if you get messages when away from BT but your phone is on as it won't work with your phone off. If you do then congrats...you aren't a knob-end like myself.

If you don't, check to see if you're able to switch between Phone and Watch Numbers in the Messenger App. If it looks like this:

Then you need Go to Settings > Cellular > Advanced > Watch Shares Number with Phone and un-check both Calls and Text Messages. Then go into the Android Wear App > Settings (The Gear Icon at the top right) > Privacy and Personal Data > Cloud Sync. If it's off then turn it on. Then disconnect from Bluetooth and test again. Both Calls and Messages should hopefully work when away from Bluetooth and Notifications should show up when you are tethered. A reboot may or may not be required.

Success!!!!!! This whole process was like passing a kidney stone. hahahah. But damn we learned a lot so it was worth it.

So these are the issues I've encountered so far. And I'm not sure if this is related to using number sharing. Let me know if you encounter them. These aren't deal breakers but it's an annoyance.

-When connected via Bluetooth to your phone and accounts are on under advanced cellular settings, sometimes when I get a call on my watch it says the phone number and it says calling phone. This is fine. However, sometimes when I get a call on my watch it says the phone number and it says calling watch even though I'm still connected via Bluetooth. When that happens, if I answer the call on my watch on the phone I will receive a missed call notification or vice versa. When accounts are turned off in advanced settings, this never happens.

-Also, I find that Ok google command doesn't register when I have accounts turned on. Manually pressing the speaker button on the command screen works but saying ok google from the home watch face does not. This never happens when my accounts are turned off.

Those are the only things I have noticed that are quirks when using number sharing with Verizon or Verizon syncing or whatever.

Edit: I included this thread link to the original instructions. Thanks @KOAO

The calling and missed call issue seems to be either an Android Wear or General Network issue or Even a Bluetooth issue on Android. ATT users have reported the same problem but on a larger scale with their NumberSync and the Gear S2.

I can add to the OK Google issue. If you ask it to send simple stuff like messages or Checking the weather then it's fine. However when I did something advanced, like asking for it to show the Premier League Table, it crashed Android Wear Completely. Asking for the Location to a fast food restaurant seemed fine and even pulled up the navigation on the watch with the option to send it to the phone.

I have the OG Urbane 2ND Edition. I followed this guide ;

In order to be able to Call when away from my phone. It works really well. However when I am paired to my phone by Bluetooth it gets all my notification like snapchat, Gmail, etc. But it doesn't get any from The default SMS application (Messenger) nor from Verizons Messages+. Not even from Motorolas stock messaging app that came with my phone.

Because I used the method in said thread, the play audio through watch option is disabled and so is NumberSync(I don't care about that though.) The weird thing was that I had it working when I set it up the first but then had an issue that forced me to factory reset it.

Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Not sure but I do know that on the Verizon version of the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE, you can't make or receive calls, get messages to the watch UNLESS you use Verizon messages as your default on your phone. Can't even activate the watch UNLESS you do. They block any other SMS app to the watch from functioning, including Google's own messages from properly working. It's messed up of Verizon to do this. Forces me to have to use it on my Pixel when I'd much rather use Google Messenger. When you try to send a text via voice through the watch, it defaults to Google Messenger still and then you get an error message on the watch. You have to go to Verizon message+ on the watch, tap it, then voice text. Doesn't work seamlessly like Google intended by just saying "OK Google" and then sending a text. The sad thing is that Verizon won't admit this is an issue for the watch even when the evidence is glaring right in your face and theirs. I'm sure Google isn't aware of this at all because it takes away your ability to choose which texting app you wish to use on your devices IF you have this watch. This is a bad thing, especially if you don't like Verizon message+.

I'm sure Google probably knows. They probably just aren't doing anything about it. I returned my Verizon version for the AT&T version. The Verizon rep argued me up and down that I was just doing it wrong. Still returned it. Wasn't paying more for less functionality.
