Hey guys, I'm pretty new here and to the rooting community. I rooted my Evo 3D a while ago and it took me a bit since I have never done it before. So I checked my version and I am on 2.3.4 and I have a ClockworkMod recovery 5.0.2.0 flashed. I tried to do the OTA for 4.0 or ICS and it restarts and nothing has changed. What should I do? I only rooted my phone so I could use a wifi tether app. Thanks!

Never accept a ota while rooted unless you're ready to lose root. If you're rooted you don't accept ota's. You wait for a developer to create arooted version of the Rom. You need to check your phone and see if your bootloader is unlocked and are you s off. If you're still s off go over to xda and download a stock rooted ics Rom. If you're locked and s on you need to flash stock ruu to get back to gingerbread and then you can accept ota then reunlock bootloader to be rooted again. Also you need to ditch clockworkmod and get a touch recovery like 4ext. However if you're bootloader is unlocked and you're s on you can't flash a ics Rom because you need to update firmware which you can't do s on so any is Rom you try to flash will just. First thing you need to know is whether or not your bootloader is locked out unlocked and whether you're s off or s on. I STRONGLY recommend you do your homework before you end up semi bricked like I did this past weekend. Do not flash a ics Rom if you're s on 1.5 h boot weather you're unlocked or not. I PROMISE you'll be wasting your time. Figure that info out I told you and you can go from there.

Ok, it says unlocked and s-on. H-Boot 1.5. What do I do from here? I just figured that ICS is cool. Is it worth it? What apps should I be using?

To me it is. To you it may not be. There's a Rom called tribs solid Rom on xda that says you can flash it with any h boot and if you're s on but that same Rom caused my phone to nearly die on last Friday. When I was 1.5 s on. That's the only ics Rom you can MAYBE use. You need to get s off to update firmware to use ics or stay gingerbread.
