Help with MD4

Ah, in my excitement of seeing the new details for MD4, I didn't notice the release date. I'm sure this forum will be lit up tomorrow with details.

Once Freeza posts the stock and rooted versions in his thread over on XDA, I'll make a "Your way to Upgrade to MD4" like SkunkApe did for MA6 and MB1. Shouldn't take too long.

If there's a flashable zip, it's really not all too hard for rooted users. Alls ya gotta do is flash the firmware, then the ROM lol.

Completely understood, however Skunk's threads on how to update answered a lot of questions that were not as cut and dry as flash firmware, then ROM. Everyone starts from scratch, and I feel that as more information is readily available, the better the community is and becomes. I'm happy to see meyerweb taking the initiative on this one.

Flashing the zips aren't hard, but agree people are at different points in their knowledge base.

meyerweb,

Thanks in advance for your efforts. I know that post can be very helpful for a lot of people. Since I keep my device unrooted (not even sure why anymore but I do), its great to get that google link that I can download the zip from, and then apply using the stock recovery.

I am using the ODIN update - do I need to update my kernel and modem also, if i used the primary ROM file?

You're installing a TAR file through ODIN? I'm pretty sure that includes everything: modem / firmware, kernel and ROM.

Sextape has the MD4 ROM and Kernel and Modem all uploaded already. [LINK][ROM][ODIN][TAR]SPH-L710 MD4 (MD4 Modem/Kernel/ROM - Stock) - xda-developers

Thanks. Been in a meeting all morning, so I haven't looked yet. I'll get to it this evening, after work.

Certainly true, but (1) not all people who want to update are rooted, and (2) not every rooted user is an expert. Heck, I even go back and double check references on occasion just to make sure I haven't forgotten something.

Even Freeza is waiting till somebody or himself get the OTA to make the zip files this time. Might be the best option. Certainly going to be mine and wait for him to post zip files.

The zips are available on xda, however I am going to wait for freeza. Some people have experienced problems with some of them.

The OTA is suppose to start pushing today. But being that there is no rhyme or reason to what order the push comes, could be up to three weeks before people get it.
