Help with "Smart Lock"

So I woke up this morning to find that my AOD was off. After waking the phone up and pulling down the notification shade I saw that "Smart Lock" had engaged after "4 hours of inactivity." I then had to unlock the phone with my fingerprint.

My question is is there a way to disable this or adjust the amount of time before it locks the phone? I looked high and low in settings but I can't seem to find anything that addresses this issue. I know I must be missing something.

Can someone please help?

No. There is no way to change or turn off the 4 hour inactivity lock.

Wow, that seems very odd. And very un-android in the sense that android pretty much allows you to customize everything. Weird. On the positive side at least I'm happy that there wasn't a setting I was overlooking. :D

I noticed that too this morning. There are some "stay awake" type apps, I have not looked yet to see if any will help this.

I suspect there may be third party apps that can address this but I'm thinking that it may be best to just leave this alone. I imagine that there's a reason Samsung or Android set it up this way and, in reality, it's a very minor issue that will only be relevant overnight as I don't think too many of us let four+ hours go by without touching our devices when we're awake. Heck, I don't know too many people who can get through four minutes! :D

I disabled smart lock all together and just use fingerprint . But as said above, no way to disable the 4 hour thing

What happens with smart lock when the phone is connected to a watch? I just activated this now so that the phone stays unlocked while connected to my Gear S. Is there a four hour inactivity limit on this as well?

I probably won't get to test this out till tonight during sleep to see what happens.

Yes. It still locks. I never get to the four hours during the day, but at night it locks even though the watch is next to the phone.

I don't have a problem with the phone locking after 4 hours. But why does it turn AOD off, and not turn it back on when you unlock the phone? Samsung's implementation of AOD is just stupid beyond belief.

Re: Help with "Smart Lock"

Yea, what good is AOD of you can't wake up in the middle of the night and look at the time without touching it?

I went to the store to get a S7 but liked the Edge so much I ordered that instead. The store model was gold platinum but looked silver to me. Was going to order that but the back order was shorter for silver!!

I like the auto lock to kick in at 5 or 10 minutes. Does that mean the AOD turns off then? Would make the "A" in AOD meaningless-no.

Speaking of sold out, the guy called 4 other stores for one in stock but no go. Gave me a date of 31st.
