What's up with my thunderbolt every time I try downloading something I get a window message that says unknown error that says not enough available space delete space an try again how do I get around this. Never had this problem before

You might need to unmount and remount your SD card... it needs room on your SD card to install a new app. Go into Settings > SD & phone storage > Unmount SD card... remove the SD card... then put it back in after a minute or two.

Go back into the SD & phone storage... how much "Available space" do you have???

***EDIT: And I assume you've rebooted your device... if not please do so before checking available space.

Says 11.02gb on memory card. But everything I try downloading says I need to free up space and try again

Says 2.38gb. What do I delete to increase that
You can't increase that. But that's not the problem anyway. 2.38GB is fine.

Is this happening on just one app? From the Market? Which one? Or all apps? Have you tried reseating your SD card?

Clearly this is not a real "space" issue. There's something else wrong.

It doesn't effect me when I download apps from the market, only when I tried downloading swype installer and any files off here apk type. Only let's me download market apps

message that says unknown error

I'm now guessing this was supposed to say "Unknown Sources". If so, try this:

Menu | Settings | Applications | Unknown Sources [checked]

Still a out of space message. <Uknown> could not be downloaded. Free up some on your phone and try again. This is the exact message I get

Well, all I can say is; provide a link and let us test it too.

Swype | Text Input for Screens is the link I noticed it on when I tried installing swype
I could not find a link for the .apk download within the link you posted, so I couldn't try your link. However, I found two bits of info on this subject.

- Re: Download Unsuccessful - in market and in browser - HTC EVO?„? 4G (Sprint) - Android Forums - HTC Community

- skyfire, a flashkonverter androidra | Magyar Android portál

Are you using the Skyfire browser? (2nd link) If so, I'd try the built in browser first.

If not, look at the first link. Try running CHKDSK /F on your SD card attached to a MicroSD PC adapter on your PC. Turn phone off, reinsert the SDcard into the phone, turn phone on, then try again.

OK I used the stock browser and got further but now I'm getting a message. Swype Installation Failed Registration of Swype failed what now

Ok download complete but when I try to install it says application not installed
You might want to PM DroidXcon to get his attention. I don't use Swipe so I'm not sure. But since that was his link and his instructions, he should know...

Frank thanks for all your help I guess I will just do without swype that will solve my problem

If I knew Swype was what you were trying to install, I'd have pointed you to the good version that works on the Thunderbolt... one of the major problems with the one from swype.com is that version does not auto-capitalize or auto-space in the SMS app.

Try: New Version of Swype for HTC Evo... then go down to Install Via Gmail – NEW!
