HELP! Your device is corrupted and cannot be trusted and may not work properly

My phone just became unusable and I don't know what to do! My pixel 4a was working fine about an hour ago. I set it down to charge and when I came back a few minutes later it was showing the red version of this message: "Your device is corrupted and cannot be trusted and may not work properly". I can't even start up my phone because when I press the power button to continue, it goes to the white loading screen with the google logo and then it freezes. I have no idea what could've caused this. I haven't messed with my phone's settings, used developer options, or downloaded any sketchy third party apps.

Unfortunately, it sounds like the firmware got corrupted, or it could possibly be a hardware failure. Try booting into Recovery and doing a factory reset from there: https://www.hardreset.info/devices/google/google-pixel-4a/

Oh no! I'll try the factory reset. If it is a hardware failure, does this mean I have to get a new phone?

If the factory reset doesn't work, contact Google for warranty replacement, since it should still be covered.

Unfortunately the factory reset didn't work so it looks like I'll have to get a new phone. Thanks for your help.
