Here I go again. Back to the Note 8.

Well after switching back and forth more times than I care to admit, I'm coming back to the Note 8 from the Pixel 2 XL.

There are many advantages to the Pixel, most importantly for me being the quick security updates. But with those, come bugs galore. Those folks on this forum who state that Samsung takes their time with the releases because they want to release more stable software may be onto something.

Ultimately I always preferred the Note. It's great to have better security, but not if the bugs make the phone a pain to use. Google needs to do a better job of regression testing their monthly patches. Not an easy thing to do I imagine.

Anyway, honestly for the most part I can't wait to get a Note again. I took advantage of Samsung's special of $250 off plus free Gear X earphones. Getting it tomorrow.

The only debate was whether to wait for the S9+, but at this price with zero interest payments, this deal was very good, and I still like the S-Pen a lot even though I don't use it that frequently.
The s9+ will undoubtedly cost more. I think the Note 8 was a good mpve on your part. And I feel your pain. Before the Note 8 came out, I was going back and forth between a S7Edge and V20.

I'm in the puzzle now where I'm thinking about that deal well getting the phone 400 is a steal . I have it now but I have it on the mobile with the jump on demand and I was going to do a jump and go back to the iPhone again ( all of my friends have one and I do miss playing iOS games with them ).... but like u said the s9 is around the corner and while yes I do enjoy the note for the most part . I have thought about getting something more of like the pixel mostly because of the form factor and not the finger print scanner place ment over the note . with Samsung putting it a better position now now idk what to do lol
I'm on Tmobile Jump on Demand. They told me when I asked, that I could Jump from the Note 8 to the S9+ and back tongue Note 8 as long as the Note 8 was still available. I imagine it would be for some time. I don't plan to do that but I asked. Plus, the S9+ hasn't even been released yet so for me until then I'm not thinking about it

I hear you. I don't know why I'm having issues and you're not. But to be fair, the Pixel 2 XL has had a lot of that from the get go. I had to return my 1st 2 units because of screen issues, and the 3rd one was a charm. Watch the first 30 secs of this: https://youtu.be/X2ucXBKdNj0 I'm not alone.
Sorry to hear You had to return 2 defective onesie that. I'm glad the third is seeming to work out

Seems to be sporadic. Some people are reporting their phones heating up a lot (check PocketNow's video from today). That's not the issue I'm having. I'm having Bluetooth and WiFi issues and random app crashes. No new apps.

I had the same issue the OP is talking about with my Nexus 6P, so I understand the decision. I think a lot has to do with what apps you have loaded, too. Some apps will get rouge because of an update, and will stay that way until the developer tweaks it. And finding rouge apps is not always easy.

Having been in both worlds, I prefer that Samsung waits and releases more stable updates. I have no issues at all waiting for them.

I am on the Jump on demand program with tmobile, and I am wondering if there will be a down payment required with the S9 plus?...

And my Note8 has finally received the January patch

All 760MB of it

Is there a compiled list of bugs.. I don't seem to have any on my pixel 2. Just want to see what others are having problems with?

With my XL 2, I had a lot of apps crashing that were not crashing prior to the February update. These include Washington Post, Slack, and Chrome. I also had Bluetooth issues. Specifically inability to connect to my car until 3 or 4 attempts made - this was sporadic, but never happened before the February update. Finally, had some issues connecting to home and work WiFi - with it taking up to 2 minutes to connect. I didn't run diagnostics, so not sure what was going on. I've sold it and shipped it at this stage, and am happy to have a Note 8 back again. Hope that helps a bit. Clearly this not happening to a lot of people, but various issues are happening - a colleague of mine at work also had similar issues.

Not sure. If I recall, there wasn't a down payment on the Note 8. Or maybe it was $50? I can't remember lol. I do remember it wasn't 100$+

I didn't have a down payment for the note ... I think for the basemodel phones there is not down payment on jump on demand I could be wrong tho.

I have the Note 8 for 1 reason: the stylus. But I think I screwed up. I got a $250 discount and sent back a pristine S8. I think I could have gotten the same deal and forfeited my Note 5. Oh, well.

The S8 - did you owe anything on it? If not, you could've sold it for a lot more.
