Here's the LG Velvet

The video shows a brand-new design language that includes a fresh take on the camera module.

I don't know so much about that. So they went from a horizontal to vertical layout on the camera setup. I wouldn't exactly call that a "fresh take" on anything. The rest of the phone looks cookie cutter and a pain to use like all bezel-less phones. Going with the 765 SoC will be something to watch when it comes to battery life. It has the 5G modem Incorporated into the chip like older 4G phones. The 865 SoC has the modem on a separate chip (for whatever reason), which means a loss of efficiency. The LG V60 seems to be a beast when it comes to battery life, so that may hint at good life on the Velvet.

The device and hardware looks great but their software is unfortunately no go for me personally. Also most likely there won't be official US unlocked model and I'm not buying carrier models ever.

I think this is the first official look at this device. I'm curious if LG has changed up their software game as well. What do you guys think?

I have no issues with their hardware being more concerned with the level of support they are providing (OS/security). Bought a new device nearly six months ago only receiving a single update (January's patch) in that time frame. So in my opinion support is almost non-existent from LG in my case... Went in expecting it to be bad yet not anywhere to this degree.

I'm curious how the camera and audio will be compared to those of the V-series.

I'll have problems trying not to think that the phone is called the "LG Velvet Jones.":p

When I was looking at V60 review videos, i ran across a comparison between it and the G8 (the G-series being the current mid-range option from them) when it came to camera performance. I was surprised to see a few instances where the G8 bested the V60, so I would expect the Velvet to perform very well for its class.

If camera(s) do a "reasonable" enough job in varying lighting conditions, audio isn't a muffled or a tinny mess, sufficient general overall performance, and priced right, then it might be a hit. Think LG might be onto something here as is Apple with their 2020 SE... Many would like to have top tier yet way too expensive, bottom tier sometimes too many compromises, but middle of the road should have "just the right stuff" many can live and be happy with.

OMGOSH this phone looks super amazing! I'm so excited! I told my husband he had to buy it for his next upgrade so I could live vicariously through him. 🤣

Gotta say, I'm really looking forward to hands-on and review videos.

I'm not so sure anymore. Considering it seems like it will be priced between OP8 and OP8Pro. Back looks nice (no huge camera blob), 3.5 mm audio jack, active stylus support, and ... not much else I like. Just too large and seems unweildy to me. According to GSM Arena, no high refresh rate, only Full HD display, UFS 2.1, USB 2 speeds!

I think they are targetting a certain demographic :D

I guess we'll have to wait for reviews and hands-on videos to see how the LG Velvet operates and handles multiple apps. I'm hoping for the best!

Looks velvety. I like it.

Hopefully their OS/UI has been revamped as well.
