I'm coming from a S5 to Note 4 to Note Edge (which died) back to a Note 4 to now a S7 Edge cause I waited for the Note 7 which flamed out.

What do I need to know and why do I feel so empty cause I waited on a Note 7 and feel like I just settled on a S7 Edge.

Thanks in Advance.

Trust me you'd feel worse if like me you had and used the note 7, switching through 2 recalls and twice having to give up your phone that was awesome had had no problems, then having to settle for a s7edge...I'm fine now but it felt like a huge downgrade...

Same here. I went through two note 7s recalled. Some back and forth with replacement phones, currently settled on a note 5 as the replacement. It does feel like I've settled, which all of us that have had Note 7s have done, really.

I loved my N7 but I don't feel like I settled. I had the option to go back to my n5 with no SD slot or waterproofing (still a good phone though ) or get another phone with closer features to the N7. I still ended up with a pretty good phone despite the recall mess and missing a few of the N7 features.

But in all fairness, BigCrimson.. The S7edge is the closest to the N7, as you can get...it's not a note but it's still a damn good device...

I went to the S7 edge after 2 note 7 phones. To be honest, it's the closest you can get to the n7. I'm actually starting to like it just as well as the n7, I would still rather have the n7, but I would rather go with the S7 edge over the note 5, I like the edge feature, the battery lasts longer, and it's faster. The smaller screen is starting to be beneficial for me, I miss the S pen features of screen write and smart select.

The N7 is an S7 edge with a larger screen and a pen. You lose the pen features of course but the chipset and internals are identical.

The Note 7 was a great experience, so I can imagine feeling empty because you did not get a chance to have one. Hopefully the Note 8 is even more fabulous and does not catch on fire.

It sure is an empty feeling after using the Note 7 and then having to give it up. I cannot wait for the Note 8.

Went thru 2 Note 7 's and just got my S7E on Monday. Debated about some other top line phones - Pixel and V20, but they were ultimately missing a lot that the S7E had and it was closest to the N7. I even got the same titanium silver color that I loved on the N7, and even got the same exact case, so it almost feels like my N7, except a tad smaller and more curvier on the screen (more reflections), no S pen and a few little things. And I can still use my wireless charger! But it'll hold me over til the S8 or N8 comes out!

I've never had a note or used a pen stylus. What is the attraction with the pen? What do you do with it? The note hardware just always seemed ridiculously huge to haul around and it didn't seem like it would fit in a pocket.

Fits fine in jeans pockets and larger coat pockets

Well Dave it's tough to explain if you've never had one... Myself I used the S pen to sign things, it had a cool translation feature, you could crop pictures on the fly, make gifs of almost anything easy, cut and paste features were a breeze, and photo editing was much better than using your finger. It depends on what you require out of a mobile device.

LOL An why no one told me about the finger grease magnet this phone is. I broke down and got a case cause I've drop it 3 times in a week. I don't ever drop my phones and I ride without a case 100% of the time. Love this phone so far even if its not a Note 7.
