I came to the smartphone game relatively late in the day (2011), have so far owned a Samsung Galaxy Y, a Nexus 5 and have just got an LG G6.

I joined this site to resolve technical issues.

I work in medical research and my interests include science-fiction (books, movies and video games), writing short stories and Fan-Fiction, listening to rock music and electronica, and keeping up with current affairs.

Warm welcome to AndroidCentral @skyandcosmos 😃 Thanks for joining this community.

There are lots of knowledgeable people here who will definitely help with any problems you may have.

Hope you enjoy your new LG G6! It's a very nice device.

Hello and welcome to the forums at Android Central!

Welcome to the forums! You have great taste in phones! I too had the Nexus 5 and loved it! How are you liking your G6?

You mention you like writing short stories - have you heard of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month)? It's every November - people from around the world write 50,000 words in a new story over the course of the month. The site hosts similar events in April and July. It's super fun!

Do you like Rush? They're my favourite rock band!

Anyway, if you need any further assistance, please reach out to us! :)

Thanks! Yeah loved my Nexus 5- stock Android was great and it was VERY well priced for the time. But after 3 years the battery had started to fade and it was time for a change.

The G6 is a great phone too- it has a very thin layer of bloatware but nothing that can't be disabled. Loving the 18:9 screen. I had a slight issue with the fingerprint scanner but that's all sorted now. I also love the fact that its waterproof- I live in the UK and go to festivals, at which it almost inevitably rains!

Do you own a Nexus 5 / G6? What do you think?

Thanks for the info r.e. NaNoWriMo - I'll definitely check it out. I'll also check out Rush as I haven't listened to them before. My favourite bands are Deftones, Muse, and At-the-Drive In.

Thanks again for the welcome!

Yes, the Nexus 5 was so reasonably priced and it was an amazing device to boot. It was probably one of the greatest devices ever made, According to Morty. 🤣

I too love the G6 ratio! It's a beautiful device, for sure. And promising.

I did own a Nexus 5 for about a year and a half, and then an LG G3 for about fourteen months. I now use an Honor 8 that I love! But I do miss the stock Android experience. I've heard lots of good things about the G6 - it's definitely in the running for my next phone.

Yes, NaNoWriMo is awesome! They also have Camp NaNoWriMo (similar to the one in November, but you make your own writing word count goals and can work on already-started projects, graphic novels, etc) in April and July! They're also fun!

Rush is amazing! At-the-Drive In sounds cool!
