Since I'm a premier customer with Sprint, I'm EXPECTING no crazy charges on my bill the first month after receiving my EVO, can anyone confirm?

1. I am due for my yearly upgrade via my Premier status, so other than paying the $199 for the phone, I shouldn't be charged a penny more for upgrading my phone correct? No activation fees with Premier.

2. I am adding a line to my family plan in order to get my wife an EVO. I will be switching her current # to the EVO shortly after activation. Again, no activation fees with Premier and no fee to add a line to my family plan.

So, with my current plan for Friday, my bill next month should simply be $20 higher due to the two new EVO's, correct??

I am going to be pretty displeased if I get my bill and it's $500 or so.

I"m not sure, but I think there is an upgrade fee which is waived, and then the usual $18 activation fee.

From my experience anytime you make a contract change it starts over with the new billing so the first bill is always big since it is payment in advance.

My question is... is the people who are Sprint Premier customers and are buying through BB and RS, do they still get the same no activation/upgrade fee (Premier) benefit?

Hmm, this is a good thread, b/c when I went to a local Sprint store (not a corporate store) to put in a pre-order, I was told that there would be a activation fee. I told the store rep that I was a Premier Customer, and she said everyone was charged the activation fee.

Looks like I'll need to call Sprint on this one...

I am a Sprint Premiere and have been charged for activation fees.

I've been charged before activating my wife's phone, my primary line is the Premier cust status. I called Sprint, told them I got charged an activation fee as a Premier and they promptly removed the fee.

I thought the no activation fee was only on the main line. and the first two lines are free and any after that are $20

Okay so you will be charged an act fee if you buy it any where but online. new lines are 36 dollars and upgrades are 18 dollars. if you are not changing your entire plan and just adding the 10 dollars on then you will most likely be prorated for the 10 dollar add on because you added it mid month. so expect that to look like about 15 dollars. now for your add a line.. that one will also be prorated because you added a line mid month so that will also result in proration. lastly if you are dealing with any sort of mail in rebates you will not want to be moving the phones around on your account until they are redeemed.

I don't know why anyone would go to a Sprint store over RS or BB. You have to mess with the $100 MIR and you pay tax on that extra C-note, so you're likely to pay another $5-$10 in sales tax needlessly.

Upgrade fees are waived. If you order online, which we aren't gonna wait , then the activation fee is waived.

Here it is from Sprint's Web site:

"To thank you for choosing us, we treat you to incredible savings on primary phone upgrades every 12 months--10 months earlier than our standard offers (requires a 2-year service agreement). We also waive the upgrade fee, and, if you upgrade online, you can forget the shipping and activation fees. See when you're eligible in the My device & media tab."

Here in California, you pay the sales tax on the full price of the device, not what is out of pocket. At BB your paying $650 plus tax, Sprint is $449 plus tax.

1. Your upgrade fee should be waived. You may need to pay an activation fee though (This may be waived if you request it).

2. I think you will need to pay an activation fee here. Only one line gets the premiere benefits. If you order online, that fee should be waived though. This new line will also not get upgrades every 12 months like your premiere line.

Your next bill probably will have an activation fee for your second line (if it is a 3rd line, you will be charged another $20 plus prorated fees). The upgrade fee for your primary line may be charged upfront when you purchase the phone. Both of these fees may be waived if you complain to Sprint. That isn't guaranteed though.

Also, your next bill will probably have more than $20 in costs. When you change your plan, they do that whole 1 month in advance thing. This will probably be a prorated charge on top of the full 1 month fee of $10 per line.

This is just my understanding of how things work from being a Sprint customer for about 10 years.

Speaking for myself of course, and embarrassed to admit it, but I missed the pre-order window for the first shipment of phones and didn't have the patience to wait another week for the next shipment :o

That being said, I'm going to show up at my local RS to see if I can nab an EVO not claimed by a pre-order, and cancel my pre-order at the Sprint store I went to :D

Okay, so if I go through with this it should look something like this:

Upgraded line: $18 plus prorated $10 EVO fee
New Line: $36 plus prorated $10 EVO fee

Next month's bill:

$143-What it was before upgrade
+$18 Activation
+$15 EVO Fee
+$36 Activation
+$20 Line #3
+$15 EVO Fee
Approximately $247?

When I got my Moment through BB I was charged an activation fee :(
