A spring is coming out of the slider area. It appears that it would slide around and hook on a post but I cant figure out how to get it back attached again. Anyone else experience this. Should I just stop in a store?

If you have parts popping out, time to take it in to get it fixed.......

From what I heard Sprint doesn't repair the slider or slider related mechanisms, unless something has changed. So you will probably end up with a new "refurbished" phone.

I hate Sprint's "new" refurbished phones. I have a friend that is on her 4th "new" Evo. Everyone they give her has a different problem. It might be ok if they did better QC before they called them refurbished but I think they just fix the one reported problem and then assume that everything else is fine.
Just a PSA for everyone; if your phone is still under the manufacturer warranty, don't take it to Sprint. Contact them directly and get a brand new phone instead of one of Sprint's refurbs. That is one reason the above friend has to keep going back. After she was on her third faulty refurb she found out that if she had her original phone she could have sent it off and got a new one from HTC.
Sorry if that is a little off topic but if you are heading into the store and they might try to give you a different phone, I thought I would just toss that out there.

If you go into a repair center, any technician worth his salt will look to see if they have another Epic that they are going to send back, and then swap the slide assembly. It's one whole piece that's pretty easy to replace, so I would just ask them to repair it, and not to replace it.

The only worry with a loose hinge piece like that it it may be rubbing against the ribbon cable that runs from the front half (LCD) to the back half (Circuit Board) and you might end up with a Black LCD or unusable touchscreen.
