Hit the FCC

Sounds like some people here think it could take weeks from this point. The link shows that it has been approved. Doesn't that mean the phone can be released at any time Verizon wants?

Yeah, I misread the original story, but the second link confirms the approval. I would think that now Verizon can release it without any holdup from the FCC (which could have been the source of the delay for the firm release announcement, who knows?)...

This actually makes sense. It still assumes that the announcement is delayed, but if it really is then I like your theory. It could be used to explain a lot of the different information that has been floating around. We'll see I guess.

can't we at least say at this point that there is nothing as far as the device goes that is holding up the release of this phone?

FCC approval = ability to sell with no restrictions correct?

and if we go by what panda has said, that samsung/google did their part already delivering the device, I have my doubts that it is a supply issue, at least in terms of verizon having the phones they ordered somewhere

so the only plausible explanation for not releasing at this point would be verizon having difficulty getting the phone out to its stores and retailers, which may be why 'web-only' rumors have surfaced....because then they wouldn't need to have the phone in stores

so if it's not that then it is simply verizon delaying the phone for another reason....allowing time for the razr to sell, etc. which is not an acceptable excuse to me

so any and all questions should be directed to verizon at this point, but i also should add that it may have been their plan to do a soft launch from the beginning and the phone still could drop in the next few days

What we can say is that with an order of Galaxy Nexus phones headed to Verizon, the phone being announced as passing through the FCC, and confirmations of a November release (from other sources and even Matias Duarte), that this phone will most likely be launched next week. That means we're about a week away from finally getting this phone.

Hardware - Check
Software - Check
FCC - Check
Inventory en route to Verizon - Check

Really, the only thing we absolutely have to wait for now is an official announcement or press release. Unfortunately, that can still come at any time and whenever Verizon feels like it.

I don't know if you saw this:

Hey guys. I've been a forum reader for years and this is my first post so hopefully I don't get flamed for posting a rumor. BUT, I just got back from my local Verizon store where I played dumb to see what info I could get on the GN.

I told the rep that greeted me at the door that I'm about to switch over from AT&T (which is actually true) and wanted to check out the Rezound and the GN before making my decision. Without any hesitation he said, "We don't have the GN yet but it's coming out on Thursday." I asked if he had any demo phones for training purposes and he shouted over to a group of 3 or 4 VZW reps "Hey did we get a Galaxy Nexus to play with yet?" and the response was, "It should be here sometime tomorrow."

So hopefully they weren't screwing with me but I am definitely going back every day this week!
If this member is for real, your dream might become a reality.

I really hope they spend some money on advertising this phone. It's the one thing Apple does so much better.

And if they do, hopefully it'll be ads that get both genders excited about the phone, not just men.

There is literally no way possible it would make for a release this week. Lets be logical.

A day shipping minimum to reach regional distribution centers.
A day shipping minimum to reach stores from there.
A day minimum to check them into store inventory.
A day minimum to setup marketing in stores.

There are probably more steps involved.

That makes a launch minimum of Saturday.

--and that assumes there is no transitional time between each step. You know there will be. Probably a couple days at least. If we are lucky, we see it next week. I bet not even then.
