I may be wrong, but I think the native app only works over Sprint(carrier) airwaves. Meaning if you are using over wifi it won't work.

Yes, either through the phone with a terminal app or via a computer with adb. either way, this is what you will need to do:

Install a third party launcher (which you have already done)
In Terminal type:

su
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
cd /system/app
rm ADWLauncher.apk
reboot

To do this on the computer the commands are the same, except you want to type adb shell instead of su.

You can't uninstall it through the appliations menu in settings. App removal programs might work, but I'd suggest the above method.

I found the solution to the issues I was having, here's what I did in case anyone else comes across this issue:

1. Getting incorrect username/password error when setting up Yahoo mail through the Email app: choose manual setup, IMAP, IMAP settings imap.mail.yahoo.com (for incoming server) and SMTP settings smtp.mail.yahoo.com (for outgoing server).

2. Not able to sync Exchange calendars: flash CorpCal.apk through ADB, this is a separate app just for Exchange calendars, which do not seem to be supported in the standard Calendar app in stock 2.1 (non-Sense).

So now I have all of the things I like about AOSP and everything I need to get by! Awesome setup, so glad I came across this suggestion.

On the other hand, I see Fresh is back and came out with an updated Fresh ROM - I may have to switch back to Sense in a couple weeks and check it out! I think I'm addicted too

ha ha, flashing becomes very addicting. It's fun trying different ROMs and having the option to revert back via Nandroid if you really wanted to. The options that (rooted) Android presents

It looks like 2.2 will only run on overclocked phones if i'm reading these threads correctly. Sounds like the Hero is about to become obsolete

Well I'm now running this morning's Test4 of Cyanogen's Froyo mix and it's awesome. Yes it's OC'ed and yes it's awesome.

I would like to get that ROM if only for the ability to save apps to the SD without using another app. I'll wait until they've worked all the bugs out though.
