Holy price cut, Batman!

I have had service with all four carriers over the last 8 years, and can say that you are absolutely correct about Verizon's network quality. I switched to them from T-Mobile for that very reazon, despite the fact that my monthly bill doubled as a result. I then switched to Sprint to cut that bill down to a reasonble figure, and to get a better device (HTC Touch Pro 2) that VZW didn't even offer at the time. I then took a transfer out of state, and AT&T is the only carrier that even has coverage where I work.

Different strokes for different folks, I suppose. ;)

I've been on ATT wireless for almost 10 years. I love the rollover minutes and their customer service has always treated us right. I have a friend who ditched VZW due to their arrogant customer service and never looked back. Factor in their sky - high prices, and it's a wonder anyone goes with them, despite the killer selection of phones they always seem to get.

I got fed up with my wife's (white) being on backorder, and just canceled that part of the order and picked it up in store for the same price as online, $99 on contract, Kingsville and Corpus Christi, Texas stores.

It's gotta be an LTE area thing. I had to pay the full $199 in Connecticut.

Areas with high 3g data usage get the vivid for 100. I think is because the areas with high data usage will see LTE soon. The areas that pay 199 won't see lte soon. Well that's what I think. They want people to switch to lte devices to open up some 3g spectrum.

$99 is the in-store price where I live.

I was all for the Skyrocket until I went to the store today to see both. I've never had experience with Sense or Touchwiz, so do to my ignorance of both, nether is a factor in my choosing. I find myself agreeing with one of the blog sites that reviewed the 2 phones a few days ago prior to public release. The Vivid is heavier (a lot heavier in my opinion), but just feels more solid of a device. I prefer the realistic colors and higher resolution over the Skyrocket's screen by far. I'm not too concerned about the lower clocked processor. 1.2 dual core is still plenty. The cons are the weight and thickness. I'm guaranteed to know it's in my pocket. Once a case goes on it, it's going to be one girthy beast. I find the neon colors of the skyrocket's screen a bit annoying plus it's lower resolution. So it's screen display vs size/weight at this point.

For those of you have played with both and no something about Sense vs Touchwiz, what do you feel the pros and cons are of each?

Lets see... Sense is a huge resource hog but is worth it for some people for its deep social network integration and customization abilities. Tw4 is very light and isnt actually that bad visually. It leaves more free memory which makes for a faster overall phone. Both are nice so its whatever is better for you

I personally like Sense, but that's entirely my opinion. What goes farther in selling me an HTC phone is HTC's generally good record of keeping their phones up to date (the Thunderbolt notwithstanding). They do regular maintenance updates, and I expect them (and ATT) to do much better on their target of early 2012 for the ICS update (especially after the Gingerbread debacle). The Vivid is at the top of the short list to get ICS soonest and I'm going to work hard to hold them to it.

I called NBO and they matched the $99 price point and waived the overnight delivery fee for me. The lady was very nice on the phone and I started out nice to her. Very happy and will report back tomorrow with phone in hand!
