Home button on my S5 and Google Now

I got mine fixed by going to application manager and stopping the S voice app ...it's that app forcing google to come up on the home button

following - same issue with home button, except mine does not go into Google now, it just stays on the screen I'm trying to get out of, normally have to lock phone and unlock it for home button to work. restarting is a temp fix. also is anyone having email issues or the keyboard responding slowly while typing since att update??

Getting worse again. Had to remove battery. Button basically wouldn't go anywhere now that search was disabled. 4.4.4 is a disaster. They need a patch to fix this now!! Never thought I would say this but getting iPhone nostalgia....

Im having the same issue. No matter how many times I press the home button the ok google screen pops up. Once I restart my phone it temporarily fixes it. Please fix this soon!

Figured it out!! Go to your apps page, (not apps store) find the Google app,(white "g" in a blue box) select and hold it, then drag it to disable at the top of your screen. Fixed mine, hope this helps everyone! :)

It worked!!! The damn Google was getting annoying

This issue also started for me on my Galaxy s5 active. It happens well over half the time, then when I'm in Google now, I hit the home key again, and it just refreshes Google now. This is VERY VERY annoying. PLEASE FIX THIS ANDROID!

Posting "please fix it" here will not get you anywhere, you need to post on Google's feedback pages for the application, just saying.

Is anyone else having issues with the keyboard lagging while typing in the stock message app since update? or problems with email??

Same for me. AT&T S5 (not active) phone, updated to 4.4.4. Long press detected all the time now. Restart fixed it temporarily. I disabled the Google app. Now, more often than not, when I press the Home button, a long press is detected (and nothing happens at all due to the Google app being disabled). I have to press a second time to get to the home screen. Very annoying. I'm beginning to think we're stuck with this until Lollipop comes our way. I hope I'm wrong.

At&t you suck.... Fix this.. Why does verizon have lollipop and we don't?? I hate you. Fix this problem I'm sick of your crap

But taking battery out for 10 minutes did.... Someone mentioned that fix I think earlier or on another thread. At least for the past 24 hours. I'll update if it reappears. And it was really really bad.

I've restarted, deleted and reinstalled. Disabled it which all that did was cause a basically blank page to appear instead. I've done a hard reset. You name it. I've tried it and I'm about to flush this thing down the toilet if it's not soon fixed.

I agree 100% on the updates. AT&T totally sucks at getting the updates out to the phones. I had a Note 8 and they never did update it and every other carrier did. It's their way to basically force you to upgrade your phones to a newer one. And charge you out the *** to do it.

I did the uninstall updates trick, worked for a total of two tries, home button worked like it should.... but short lived! Now back to getting Google Now screen.
I left a review on Google Now app on Play Store stating the problem. Many have made similar comments as well.

same stupid thing happens to my S5 after the 4.4.4 update from AT&T. i tried the disable google, s voice, uninstall google app update and all worked but only a few times. my phone went back to the same issue time after time. all need to complain on AT&T site to help get a patch released.
