Android Central Question

Good evening , I am very new to Android, always had Apple, so please excuse my ignorance. I have got a second hand Samsung Note 9 and when I press the home button on the home page it opens up a keyboard at the bottom and a play store search grid at the top. Is this normal and if not how do I turn it off? Thank you for your assistance assistance. Kind regards Philip

This sounds like you have Google Assistant set to open with the Home button. Just turn it off in the Google App's settings. If not, are you using any 3rd party launchers (like Nova)? Those also let you prompt a search if you tap the home button while on a homescreen or app list.

Did you disable app drawer?

Thank you for your reply. Steep learning curve here but kinda pleased I made the transition - ignoring this little hiccup. Not sure how to turn it off. I do have Nova installed - someone recommended this to me.

Just open Nova Settings, tap on Gestures & Inputs, inside the Button Action section tap the Home Button and either select None or an action of your choosing (you can also select if this works only on main home page or in all other Nova sections if you do set an action for it).
