Home screen keeps redwaring itself and phone is force quitting every single app in the background im

Yay, thank you so much for the post!

I'm using a LG-D855 16gb version of the G3 - it's a European version and its carrier free. I have the latest update - v10g.

When I had apps open and closed them so I can go back to the home screen the home screen just started because it closed itself before. Its really strange and I could even understand it but I used one single app at a time and it still did the same! Clock, calendar, or the app of this forum. And as you can see I didn't had a lot of background processes in the background.

Since then I switched to Nova launcher and it seems it's not restarting (as often - at least) like the stock launcher.

But I would like to use the stock launcher without any problem as it supposed to work.

Apps are still tending to close almost immediately when I put them to the background - not 100% of them, but most of them. It can be a little bit annoying.

Bump: I still have the issue - am I the only one without any solution? I tried Nova - it was a little bit better only once or twice happened.
Today I gave another shot to the stock launcher: happened 3 or 4 times within a few hours - not using any big apps like games or anything, only chrome or messaging.

Do you guys have any suggestions? Thank you in advance. :(

(Still love the phone but would be awesome to figure out what's happening :) )

I have the 3/32 version on Sprint and absolutely no problems whatsoever. I think you either have a memory hogging app or defective RAM. I've had no memory or redraw issues at all.

Please don't listen to Nreeldeep. He is a troll.

We want a video of the issue and we will pass along to appropriate team. Also if any others have the issue on a US variant we would like to get details and video as well. ^DT

Try going to developer options and see if the "dont keep activities" box is checked off

Wikh? Where are you? How are you getting on with your phone?

I hope it's not hardware related - for me it looks a software issue. That's why I'm asking for solutions here and trying to figure it out. :)

Thanks for asking! :)

Well it got a little bit more stable but still have a few redraw once or twice per day - still not using any resource heavy app.

I read a few topics on XDA and according to them future updates may solve some of my (and other's) issue. I still have v10g and v10h-j may help with my problems.

And apps are still closing almost instantly after putting them to the background - like I don't have 2gb of ram... Still kinda annoying!

But even with the glitches I still love the phone and I think it's my best phone ever - can't even imagine how awesome would it be without the issues! :D

Of course I can record a video but I'm not sure if it will help. You can see the same thing if you just force stop the home screen and go there after that - it's just reopening again, since it closed itself - even though I only used a few really simple app - nothing like resource heavy games or anything.

And about the instant app closing when I put them to the background: again, I'm not sure if a video helps since there is nothing to see and it's quite obvious. Everybody can experience it by opening a long time used (put to the background) app. Only difference for me is that I have this almost all the time instantly - like it's not keeping anything in the memory for longer than 5 sec.

Ps.: I really appreciate the support and that is also one of the thing that makes the G3 my best smartphone so far - even with my issues. :)

I have to take it back - it's still happening maybe even more often.

Even after exiting the music app, Chrome or just settings. Why... Everything else would be so perfect but this. :(

I suggested in my first reply a Cache Partition wipe and have since discovered it can't easily be done on the G3...sorry. I suppose the Cached Data wipe did nothing either.
I imagine LG will want to get hold of that phone of yours so that they can study it.
Hope you're up and running again soon with a replacement.

Yeah I checked it out immediately. Thanks for the tip though. :)
I'm still thinking about if it's an issue serious enough to contact warranty support. (It sounds way more serious here on the forums than in real life. :D)
Maybe the LG angel can suggest something for me here. :)

Out of interest, have you tried Safe Mode, on the off-chance that a third-party app is causing the trouble?

Hey! Thanks for the tip I checked it.
Since there are only a few apps with the safe mode it was difficult to test my problem. I opened every single app there and didn't had any restart for the home screen - but it could be because I just made reset and didn't had a lot of processes there (yet).

For the multi task it's still like I have one app open and the one before that may still be open (50%) but anything earlier just restarts completely every time.

I feel like LG just bull****ted when they said that the G3 is optimized for 2gb of ram. I feel that I have enough ram to be able to run one single app at a time (not even counting the home screen).

I feel a little bit desperate. Do I have to sell my phone and try to get a 32/3 model? :( I'm really disappointed.

I checked out my dad's Huawei and even that can run 4 apps at a time - Line, game, Chrome and camera.

With my phone if I open Line then go to Chrome my Line got restarted. Same goes with using camera and changing to Chrome or anything. So disappointing. :'(

Since nobody here seems able to think of a fix...and there are some serious smartphone brainiacs in the forums...I guess there's not much left but to return it...😕

Wikh I'm surprised you have remained so calm & collected. I suppose you are hanging out for an easy fix and possibly some answers here.

My advice now after trying is to return, try you luck with a replacement or a new device although I guess you would of liked to have a functioning G3.

Good luck mate in whatever decision you make :-)

It may be worth contacting LG and asking their advice, explaining about the LGElectronics posts. They may be working on a fix which they will get to you, and suggest you wait a while....on the other hand they may suggest an exchange. There's a record here in the forums of how long you've had the problem but it might be better to make sure they're aware of how long it's been happening, and to ask their advice on the best thing to do.

The darkest times, almost found a buyer for the phone when noticed...

Can it be because I moved most of my apps to the SD card?

I did a factory reset with the LG backup tool (so technically everything is the same) restored it and now I have everything on the phone (nothing else changed) and since then I have Line open without any resets so far (~10 minutes, before it happened every single time).

Hmmmmm...

That was 12h ago, I can't bear the suspense. Have you fixed it?
