Homepage Folders Missing

I just set up a new Verizon Pixel 2 XL and copied everything over from my Nexus 6P, connecting the phones via a USB-C to USB-C cable. The transfer went very smoothly. I was surprised to see even my custom wallpaper transferred. However, I had two pages of app icons and folder icons on my homescreen on my Nexus 6P, but only the second page transferred - folders intact. The first page is missing. That was the most important page with many folder icons (I have about 250 apps). Has anyone had this issue or can you tell me if that first page of homescreen folder icons can somehow be restored? I can do it manually, but it's a lot of work. The apps are there in the "all apps" list. Is this a glitch in the transfer routine - that only one homepage can be copied and it defaults to the last page?

BTW, my storage (64GB) on both phones went from 99% full on th| Nexus 6P to 43% full on the Pixel 2 XL - how can that be?

Did you possibly get a Pixel 2 XL that has 2x the capacity compared to what the Nexus 6P had?

Once connected to the Play Store his phone should update most if not all of the apps he had installed icons and all. If not he can go to his library at the Play Store and see a history of everything he uploaded from it.
Some paid apps may not have installed but he should be able to reinstall them without charge. Hopefully he kept copy of the receipts so he can get it again without having to pay for it a second time if asked to
Anything he side loaded off of someplace like Amazon he may have to go to the different sites to reload them over..
Best of luck and enjoy your new phone, I love mine!

Hallux -both phones - my old Nexus 6P and my new Pixel 2XL are 64GB. However the Nexus 6P was 99% full and the Pixel 2XL is showing 40% storage used . All of my apps downloaded during setup from the Play store

Joe - all of my apps downloaded correctly during setup. For my most frequently used apps, I had the app icons displayed in folders on two of my home screen pages. The first page is missing from my Pixel 2XL - it did not transfer over from my Nexus 6P (however the apps are on my phone in the app drawer). The second page is displayed correctly. So my question isn't about getting the apps to download, it's about how they are displayed on the homescreen. One thing I did notice is on the Pixel 2XL, there are only four rows allowed for app icons, whereas in the Nexus 6P there were five rows. Maybe that confused the transfer routine?

I don't know if that 99% is accurate. Be careful running the Pixel that high. We have had people overload their storage to the point they couldn't boot up their phone. That happened to one person who was taking pictures and videos on vacation and didn't offload their storage.

I will be careful, thank you for that advice. I'm at 40% now on tbe Pixel 2XL and should stay close to that as all my apps
have transferred over. I still have my Nexus 6P and will compare the storage settings to see why one is so much higher.

If anything I would expect the Pixel storage to be slightly higher than the Nexus 6P since the Pixel uses the A/B partition scheme for seamless updates, which means that there are two separate copies of the /system partition.
Did you have lots of saved games or application data that didn't get transferred to the Pixel? The Nexus storage information should be fairly accurate; it would be worth investigating where all that extra storage is being used on the 6P.
