I have had a 5X for about 4 months. It's a decent phone for the price.

However I am having a lot of issues with running out of memory. I have a 32GB SD card in the phone in addition to the built in 16GB. I have set the preferred location in Settings to SD card. I have manually moved apps to SD with All In One tool. But when some apps update they get put back on main memory.

I tried to set up the SD card to be combined with the main memory but I got a message that said my device was not able to implement that feature.

Does anybody know if a way to get apps and their data over to an SD and stay there?

What steps did you try?

I inserted a completely new and clean formatted sd card in the phone. It doesn't offer me an option to make it part of internal storage. I'm not sure about the message I may have seen before about phone not compatible for internal storage option. Any thoughts?

I wish the phone would work the way Windows Phone did. Just set everything new to SD card and new apps, app data, photos, video would save to the sd card.

After some more research on this...

It appears the Honor 5X cannot handle adaptable memory. While Huawei did update to Marshmallow they didn't update EMUI 4 so it cannot do adaptable memory.

I found a couple hacks which I tried to do with a clean SD card but I couldn't get them to work.

I'm beginning to understand that you really need an Android phone with a lot of internal memory. Several web sight have said that making the SD internal memory is dodgy at best. It can often slow performance of the phone down.

Yea, it's a pain to have to re-move updated apps to the SD card. What irks me more is that some apps that are very large won't move to the SD card at all, with the 5X telling me there's not enough storage, even though I have 75% of my 32Gb card available. Seems like there's a limit to the size of the app that can go in the CD card.

I think there is an ADB command that can allow adoptable storage. I'll try to find a link.
