Question Honor magic 6 pro

When my dad phones mum she can't hear him clearly on her Honor Magic 6 pro. We have looked through all the call settings & everything seems ok & we cleaned the ear piece too. Is there anything else that needs to be enabled or disabled to make the call quality crystal clear?

Yeah it's only when dad calls mum. All other calls are clear.

Yeah he's clear when he calls me. Also clear when he phones my Uncle & Brother. When I phone mum she can hear me crystal clear so no idea why she can't hear dad.

Hmm -- this is all using the stock Phone app, and not some 3rd party platform like WhatsApp, right?

You've already tried rebooting both of their phones? How about testing both phones in Safe Mode?

Can you call out in safe mode? Unfamiliar with safe mode. Mums phone has been rebooted but not sure about dad's but he said he does it after updating his apps. Seems mums phone has been rebooted I guess just need to wait for dad to call mum again.

You can definitely make and receive calls in Safe Mode. What Safe Mode does is to disable any 3rd party apps. It's a troubleshooting step to see if any problem is due to something the user installed, vs something with the system or the hardware.

Ok I'll get them to test it over this long weekend & see what happens.

You might want to check if "VoLTE" or "HD calling" is enabled—this can greatly improve call clarity. Also, test calls with other contacts to see if it's just your dad’s phone causing the issue. Try disabling noise cancellation in call settings if it's on, as it can sometimes muffle voices. A system update might help too. If all else fails, a factory reset or visiting a service center could be worth considering.
