Horrible battery life after latest VZW update

No. It was funny, as the first time it happened, I was on home wifi, then I went to the store my ringtones were going off the hook. Lol Everyone around be just stared.

Just got the push notification for the system update today. After reading about some of the problems people are having Id like to opt out of upgrading. My phone runs perfect as is right now.
I can't seem to find a way to turn this notification off. Every time I go into system updates it launches the notification were the only option is to set a time for the update to run. I need a cancel option.
Any suggestions?

What's your biggest gripe with updating, or what are you afraid of is going to happen when you upgrade?

Overheating, battery drain, account sync issues, basically everything people have mentioned in this and other posts. I just don't need the hassle. Id much rather keep what I have without the risk. Why fix something that's not broken. Plus I don't have insurance on this phone.

the G4 does get a LOT warmer after the latest update. (but definitely not "overheating")

however, the update does make the phone run a lot smoother/faster... and like other have already reported, the keyboard is much, much better now! :)

Well once I took the glass protector off my keyboard it works fine. I already get amazing battery life and my battery never gets hot and I use it a lot. Hopefully I can find away to bypass this upgrade notification thing. It should be optional not mandatory.

I found out it's quite easy to disable updates. Go into the application manager and look in the All tab for a couple named "System Updates." One is 400k, the other shows 0 Bytes. In my case, the zero Byte version can be disabled. Did that and problem solved. The version that does take up a bit of space didn't give me the option to disable it.

AWESOME!!! Thank you! That did the trick. 👍👍

13B has still proven the best update yet for my VS986, and I've never been happier with it. Device runs MUCH COOLER (I've only seen the battery temp exceed 100-degrees F once) now when undergoing many active processes and the responsiveness is markedly much snappier; I've only had one hiccup on the keyboard (when after 12A I was having several/day). Battery life remains the best I've seen yet, and I can only hope Marshmallow doesn't mess anything up!

...Did I just tempt fate?

I got the update yesterday and haven't noticed any positive effects on battery life yet. I still think it's high considering I'm such a light user. What I want to know is how to get rid of that stupid check mark on the status bar and the notification that I've successfully updated? I'm with Verizon.

Mines the same. Really warm around buttons especially after web browsing.

ok, so I'm not the only one whose G4 has this heat problem after the latest update.

I just hope the heat doesn't cause any problems after several months of use... :(

The same things happen to me. It took about 3 days for the battery issue to kick in. It drains rapidly and charges very slowly. Making a phone call heats the phone up as well.

guess I have an exceptional G4 after the VZ update. Battery life is great and the phone has no heat issues. Works and performs perfectly. No complaints at all.

All the gripes I've had on my G4, such as wonky WiFi, inconsistent touch screen sensitivity, and poor battery life went out the door with the 13b update. I went from liking this phone to loving it! FYI I've owned the G3 and G2 (which was my favorite) before this and this seems to be now a well balanced smartphone. Also tried an iPhone for a weekend and went back to Android a month ago just to see if the grass was greener. Lastly, come to think of it, temperature wise my phone also runs cooler without any random heat ups while in my pocket; still runs warm when I'm using it on an extended basis but much cooler than previous versions.
