Horriffic Battery Life N10+

I'm hesitant to write about this issue due to so many variables for battery life but so far in the two weeks I've had this device the battery life has consistently seemed to be awful. This seems to be in start contrast to the other threads claiming excellent battery life. Maybe I'm used to iPhone battery life (at least with staying at 100% for a while, it's been a few years since I've had an Android day to day) but something just seems off.

From day 1 my battery has:
Dropped to 99% within seconds of unplugging
Drops at a steady rate of about 5% per 30 minutes of phone calls (screen off)
Is at MAX 60% battery life around noon (can vary from 40s up to 60, not a ton of screen time, typically just listening to Spotify)
Usually around 20% ish around 5pm
Haven't made it through a single day yet without charging.

Some examples:

Today I unplugged my phone, had a ~30 minute phone call on my way to work, and when I got there the battery was at 95%, screen had not been on once since it was unplugged. Currently at 1hr 10min on battery I'm at 87% with 20 min of actual screen time. Nothing has been done except for a few text messages and going through device settings.

Last night I went to dinner, unplugged my phone around 6:30 (fully charged). Had dinner (no phone use), drove around for a bit streaming Spofity, used waze to get home (30 minutes), and had a phone conversation during those 30 minutes. When I got home (10:15)I was at 45% battery.

I'm using adaptive power saving, optimized mode, adaptive brightness, and FHD res. I use Samsung e-mail and it only checks once every hour, I'm not on Wi-Fi, and have great cell reception.

Any ideas or should I take this back to AT&T to see if they'll replace it? I'm thinking about trying a hard reset to see if that clears anything up.

Check out this thread https://forums.androidcentral.com/s...7-android-system-battery-issues-new-post.html

ATT branded phones seem to be common denominator, lots of people experiencing the same.

Maybe you have too many, or at least one app set to use unrestricted battery in background that shouldn't.

I've never been one to concern myself with battery life since charging is so easy, but I looked the other day, I had over 60% left with 8 hours of screen-on time.

Unlocked?

100-90% always seems to drop quicker than the rest of the battery on my Notes

Something doesn't seem right with your phone. The Att issue most of the people are saying their Android system usage is abnormally high. Yours seems fine from your screenshots.
I would get it replaced but try an FDR first, since you'll have to when you exchange it anyways.

Actually his Android system usage is a problem. All the percentages are low the first few hours in the morning. By the end of the day I'd like to see the same battery usage stats and my guess is that he'll be up around 20% for Android System usage.

I read through that thread a little earlier, the one thing that seemed different with most of those instances is that the issue arose after a few days? My battery life has seemed to be poor from day one. The first day I had the device it was dead within 5 hours from full charge. I'll check to see what my android system usage is at the end of the day.

Turning this off is the solution. I turned it off yesterday, and I'm sitting here at 10pm with 60% battery left. I was having the same problem. Do it.

Att here too! Turned off the att mobile network diagnostics and I can really see the diff now! Thanks guys!

I have an ATT note 10+ and haven't been having any battery issues. I just checked and I guess the diagnostics thing is on by default. I am definitely getting better battery life than my note 9.

A few days in with my standard 10, I would not say mine is horrific but it is IMO like the S10 before it below par. Mainly it is poor on standby and loses 4 or 5% an hour sitting there doing nothing.

I can though get through a day ok and usually have a charger at work anyway. It is the first phone though for a while where battery is on my mind.

I have been having the same issue. I will see if this helps. I sure hope it does and thanks for the information.

last night mine was truly horrific. I went to bed and it less than five minutes of doing almost nothing it went down 5%. I noticed it but did my usual routine - streamed an audio book for an hour on a shutoff timer, and then went to sleep. woke up once so I streamed for another 45 minutes, and that's it. I woke up to 13%. I have never had any phone go down that far because I don't let them and my Note 8 never did with similar conditions. on my Note 8 I always woke up with ample battery even if I had streamed three one hour audio book sessions. wth!?
