hot on 3g

I've noticed that my s6 edge stays very cool no matter what I'm doing if I'm on 4g. But as soon as it switches to 3g it gets very hot and destroys the battery. I went to the LA natural history museum and had to doable mobile data to keep my battery from totally dying. I was switching between 3g and 1x the whole time and my phone was getting really hot without using it.

I assume it was an automatic switch to 3G due to poor LTE reception, rather than you changing the preferred network type to 3G, right? If the cell radio is still trying to latch onto the LTE signal, then it might use more battery and generate more heat as it tries to boost the signal.

Yes, I would never choose 3g...lol
