Hotmail Exchange Config problem on Thunderbolt

I had the same problem and I think I resolved it.

Try this fix.. also located here: Exchange ActiveSync & Hotmail - HTC Thunderbolt (Verizon) - Android Forums - HTC Community

Turns out all I had to do was:
1. Delete the account on my Thunderbolt
2. Empty out my Hotmail/Live inbox completely
3. Re-boot phone
4. Setup the account again on my Thunderbolt
5. Send myself a test message, from myself

I think the trick was emptying out the inbox, but I just wanted to be sure.

Worked for me too! Thanks for finding this trick!

I'm new to Android and TB. Had a BB before and had same problem with email sync. So, my question is: any updates on this issue? If not, is my best bet to empty my inbox, delete account from the phone, reboot, and reinstall? And if this is the way to go, do I need to set it up manually as ActiveSync with the "m.hotmail.com" as server, or do I set it up via the Hotmail set-up (cause that's going to be POP3, right?). Thanks guys - hope you're still out there!

You can do either activesync with m.hotmail.com

or

you can setup hotmail for pop access.

Both options work like a charm.
